how much spending money?

I'd be surprised if you could find orange squash - very much a british invention
Locals drink orange juice which is not expensive, or water
I'd be surprised if you didn't find it in every supermarket in tourist areas, it'll be imported on the whole and not as cheap as at home but it'll be there.
There are one or two similar Spanish products too, they certainly have some luminous stuff in Mercadona that seems popular.0 -

I have thanks, been keeping an eye on it for last few weeks. Moneycorp was always coming out on top but right now thomas cook is giving same rate.0 -
By the sound of it your main splurge will be the theme park? Do you know if the evening meal at the hotel includes drink or not? I've only ever done half board once, and that was a very formal dining thing (honeymoon in Italy) so don't know how these things tend to work. If it does then you'll be laughing with €100 a day.
Some days you'll blow the budget, others you find you don't spend much. That's how I tend to find it anyway?0 -
The last few times we've been abroad we've been all inclusive but in future we're going to go self catering, Were also a family of 2 adults and 2 young children and I think 100 a day would be plenty (we don't drink much though). Make sure you have a national health card and insurance and check the excess of the insurance. Our last holiday, we all came down with a sickness bug, so we had to buy some sports drinks which weren't cheap but then my 15 month old ended up severlg dehydrated and spent 2 nights in hospital on a drip, it was a private hospital and we had to pay 100 excess (we were told the bill would've been around 3 grand otherwise!) but then we spent over 100 on taxis to and from the hospital. Horrendous experience and one of the reasons I've decided we're going to go self catering from now on, those all inclusive restaurants are terrible for bugs. Sorry if that seems off topic just wanted to share my experience, I've always had insurance n every time I get it I think 'we won't need it, but just incase' well we had a just incase and we ended up spending our entire spending money on it0

For future reference, you'll get the same results by mixing your own Hypotonic [fluid replenishment] drink
1 part fruit juice
10 parts water
pinch of salt
That's all there is to it.
If you feel you need an isotonic [fluid replenishment + some carbs] drink go with 1:5 fruit juice to water0 -
Hi, We're in Salou at the moment, at the Calypso we are all inclusive, the fist time we stayed here we upgraded to from half board to All Inclusive as the upgrade was cheaper than our daily spend on food, drink, ice cream tea, coffee etc we were mostly staying in the hotel grounds. 100 euros a day should be ok if you take breakfast and your main meal in the hotel and just a cheap, light snack at lunch time, Salou isn't overly expensive.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0

can anyone help at all. 2 adults and 2 kids (4 and 6) going to Salou next week. how much spending money will we roughly need? we are half board and plan to go to the theme park once or twice. it doesnt seem much cheaper to buy park tickets here so will just wait and buy them over there. will mainly be in hotel pool and they have a small play area so kids young enough to be kept happy, trip to beach etc. i was thinking of buying some diluting juice and water over there to try and keep costs of juice all day down. will 100 euros a day be enough? first family holiday abroad.
thanks all
Diluting juice?? Do you actually mean juice concentrate or just part juice, part sugar solution ?
Certainly wouldn't give my children the latter. You can buy five litre 100% juice cartons for perhaps 6€. Why would you skimp on that?
We actually bought a Philips citrus juicer for 17€ and bought oranges at 0.56€ per kg. Fresh orange juice every day. Also had five litre bottles of water at hand.
Don't feed the kids crap. Stock up from the supermarket and ake a packed lunch to the beach with you. You don't need to spend a lot to have a good time.0 -
I would not be giving my son juice cartons all day however inexpensive. They are likely to give a child a dodgy tummy if they drink enough to stay hydrated and sugar is sugar, whether it is in fruit juice or otherwise. If the children refuse water, then squash is a reasonable option and better than fizzy drinks.
Top tip: get some individual water bottles at stick them in the fridge for the children to 'try' at home. Bottles are a novelty and ice cold water is much nicer than straight from the tap."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." Bear in mind that the op is on a half board basis, there will not be facilities for preparing packed lunches.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0
