"He knows, you know!" (Acknowledgements to comedienne Hylda Baker.."
See page 4 http://www.ageuk.org.uk/Documents/EN-GB/Factsheets/FS48_Pension_Credit_fcs.pdf?dtrk=true and for the explanation of the largesse apparently showered on Mr and Mrs O, the rest of this lengthy document.
That takes me back! I remember sitting with my parents, grandparents and other relatives watching her, on a very small tv, and all the adults convulsed with laughter. She had a very tall thin friend, who I don't think spoke - what was her name?
And who had a friend called Marlene? Was it Beryl Reid?

Cynthia, apparently....http://overthegate.myfreeforum.org/archive/hylda-baker__o_t__t_7624.html
"I remember her. She had a tall skinny woman called Cynthia as a side kick. She said nowt, and Hylda used to say, she knows you know!"

Re Beryl Reid and "Marlene" http://whirligigtv.yuku.com/topic/11461/Beryl-Reid#.Uh4iFGQaeJo
She was also "Monica" the naughty schoolgirl, "Grandma Mole",... as many alter egos as the fabled Andy...:rotfl:0 -
I suspect that the only person getting annoyed ( rather than wryly amused) is your good self!:D
I wonder why?
Me annoyed - far from it, I have developed a rather thick skin when it comes to insults and inappropriate comments. I am amused at what some people actually post in answer to my comments and requests for help - they attempt to spend their time trying to find ways of not answering anything and trying to find other ways of trying to annoy me.
If those people actually spent their time a little more profitably by entering into a dialogue and giving advice and help, this site would work much better.
But, I doubt that those people have got the sense to see this!0 -
Thank you for reading my post and replying with such a sensible question.
Yes I thought that myself, but they insist that they have returned at least one of the MI12's to the Pension Service.
Years ago when my husband was acting a guarantor for our daughter NR building soc tried something similar, 'Oh we haven't received the information back from the council yet so we can't process the mortgage'. The person at the end of the line soon found it, all complete, when I asked for details of when and who it as sent to as my husband was head of department and would need to know which member of staff was not following his guidelines.
I think a lot of these places think council/ government department we can say what we like and people will believe us.0 -
If the 'couple rate' for means-tested pension credit is £220.05 a week, then DH and I wouldn't qualify. I'm outside that on my own, without asking him for his figures.
I'm very glad that is the case.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.
Before I found wisdom, I became old.0 -

That's the very minimum amount - it can go considerably higher - as in our case it is £407.65 a week.
It can go as high as £553.80 a week on Guaranteed Pension Credit.
Plus up to another £213.55 on top in respect of additional disability payments.0 -
