iPad Mini or alternative tablet

I'm looking for a mini tablet that allows me to do the following:
* Show photos to others.
* View short video files such as those filmed on a camera.
* Read things in a pdf format.
* Ideally have some pre-loaded games on it or have games available for download for free, which wouldn't require a huge download and can be played off-line.

Would an iPad Mini do this or is there a better alternative for what I require?

    If you want something that has a traditional folder structure, don't go for the iPad.

    My GF has one and the hassle in getting photo's onto it (from a digital camera) was unbelievable. Apparently you have to get your photo's on via iTunes...... So much easier to just copy folders, but noooo this isn't allowed.

    Android tries to do this as well, especially with music, but you can at least get apps to "do things properly" if you don't like it, unlike the iPad which is Apples way or the highway.

    I have the Nexus 7, it's cheaper than iPad mini, faster and in my opinion much better. The difference is that the iPad works out of the box, but the Nexus 7 needs you to go looking for apps to do what you need and you'll need to customise stuff yourself.

    I suggest you go for something with sd card slot. Personally won't get ipad mini due to its price.

    What is your budget? I assume you want 7"?

    I keep most of my photos by folder on the ipad.

    Yes something like 7".

    In terms of budget - flexible. I don't want to spend loads but don't want to buy something cheap that's slow and may fall apart after 18 months.

    The bewildering array of choice out there makes it oh so difficult to choose. Every model is outdated as soon as it hits the shop floor. One does not want to spend money and feel they made the wrong choice

    Nope. My mother is still using an iPad 1, it still works perfectly fine, all the apps she wants to use on it work (although I don't know what percentage of new apps don't work on it). I am still using an iPad 2, it still works, almost all new apps work on it, and is still receiving operating system updates from Apple (ditto iPhone 4, it's not a tablet but same difference).
