Thanks for all your great advice, it really has helped me so much. I'm thinking I will just take what they have offered. It never was my intention to get as much from them as I could, just a fair amount. As said above, to draw a line under all this is what I really want. They did make a mistake, they recognised it and rectified it pretty fast. Other than not being able to contact them when I needed them, communication has been excellent throughout. The last thing I want is to drag this on longer than need be.

And at the end of the day I did have a MONEY CANT BUY EXPERIENCE lol.

Do it - spend the money on something frivoulous that you wouldn't do/have normally and don't let the Hamptons experience cloud your NY one!

Sorry to hear about what happened *hugs*

As much as your annoyed (I'd be fuming!), I'd just accept their offer of 600. Its a fair amount.... it could have been worse i.e. offer you 50 quid in vouchers or something lol

You could put the money towards a less stressful trip for you and your partner :) x

I've just remembered why I was in such a panic to get my credit card for Las Vegas. The hotel I was staying in, the Encore, was either $150 per night blocked off credit card (and then released) or $300 per day cash which they would have stored and then returned and there was no way I would have had the cash ($1800 ) I might be $50 off or so it was a few years back.

I'd check the hotel and/or the terms and conditions. It might be completely different if you win a comp with the hotel. If it's not in the terms that you need a credit card you can just tell the competition provider that you don't have one and they need to sort it out...as it's not your fault and your abiding the t&cs

Thank you all so much, you guys have been amazing throughout all of this :–) I can honestly say this entire situation would have been worse without all your advice, support and kind words. I sent an email accepting the offer last night, so that should end this nightmare somewhat.

As for the credit card issue above, I do believe you can use the "pay as you go" style credit cards in hotels and the such. Obviously you have to make sure that money is on the card and you won't have access to the money that is held until maybe a couple of days after checkout, but it's an option. Along with our normal credit card, we took one of those Thomas Cook Cash Passport cards. Mastercard / Visa operated, the exchange rate is pretty decent from them and there is no fee for using abroad, unless you get money from an ATM. There are other places that do similar cards. I think the Post Office do one too.

I suggest you work out how much you had to pay out, plus add any charges that your credit card company makes for going over your limit- money you would not have had to pay if all had gone to plan, and then contact Black Tomato with the figure.

You shouldn't be out of pocket for their errors.
