I don't know how banks react with business accounts, but I've heard of one case where the husband was self-employed, was injured and in a coma, and the wife went to the bank to explain that there were no funds going into their joint a/c for that reason, and promptly had the account frozen to protect her DH's interests. Never mind HER interests and those of her young children.

It is why we should all consider getting a power of attorney drawn up ... but the party doing so needs to be 'competent', and has to be willing.

  • Always slightly concerning when we read comments such as ' would be easier if it were permanent' referring to dementia...

Sounds like delirium to me, rather than dementia. Your husband hasn't even been assessed yet and your concerned with his business.

Perhaps health should be a priority and everything else could be discussed following diagnosis... If there is one.
" a life we could only dream of "
Dreaming is a pointless exercise if it only serves to reinforce your own limitations.
For my familys sake I no longer dream, I will plan and I will try and if I fail I will try and try again.
Failing is far better than dreaming. :)
  • This is definitely not dimentia. Dimentia cannot get better it just gets worse, although the people advising that it cannot come on quickly are incorrect. There is no hard and fast rule, patients can be stable for a long time then have a dramatic dip.

Antway, if he's "normal" now, it is likely that it was an infection but don't just ignore it. Get the doctors to run the checks and scans anyway. If it wasn't an infection you're going to want to know if it will happen again.
