Bob, I love this name and would definitely use it if we ever get a dog, having said that I also like basil, though I can imagine struggling not to shout it in a fawlty towers parody.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0

When I was younger I always wanted to have a dog called Chester. My mum got a new dog a couple of years ago and called it Chester at first I was a bit annoyed, but she never calls him that, it's too hard to shout!0 -
Lots of good suggestions already, but I like Sid, Sidney for when he's in trouble. My dog's got a Border terrier friend called Dave, I think it's a great name and really suits a dog.0

On a similar theme, I used to see a woman with a Staffie called Stan but he was Stanley if he was playing her up.0 -
My OH met a lab the other week called Reece, he remembered especially because it's my nephew's name. I also like Oscar, its quite a good name for a dog! And my boy (cat) is called Logan after the movie Logan''s Run.0

I don't really like human names for animals myself.
Foxhounds get some great traditional names if you take a google at some of the lists.
Did hear of a dog called 'Hovis', which I think is brilliant!
How about 'Marmite' - cos some people love those types of dogs and some people hate them!Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j

Sastchmo.
Something delicious about a beautiful bet with a name associated with a pn all time black jazz great. Breaking down barriers of prejudice in every direction,
I love my newest dogs name, spent years planning it.....he has decided on something else entirely, we were talking about someone called Louis (as in 'louey' and he thought that sounded fabulous. We now say louey instead of good boy as he seems to love it so much. Sigh. I would never have chosen louey.0 -

I may look busy, but I'm just confused.:T I smile because i have no idea what's going on.:rotfl:0 -
I like Bob, too, or Harold, or Walter/Walt. A relative of mine changed their rescue dog's name from Stan to Sam - Stan was so much better!0
