Sky Sports

So just phoned up to see what offers were available for sky sports, and was met by a brick wall. Probably not too surprising since its the start of the season and there's a big match tonight. There is currently a £20 off your first month offer online so my plan is to take that to watch the match tonight and then cancel tomorrow.

My question is, will the downgrade department be more likely to make me an offer?

I rang the other night, told them I was thinking of cancelling because it is just getting too expensive.

No hesitation on their part, I got half price sports for 6 months without much effort at all.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Yes, I may do that too. It would be an empty threat though, my girlfriend would be most upset if I cancelled sky.

It's annoying the games we have to play to get the deals though. If my current subscription is too expensive then why would I be happy increasing my monthly bill?

But where will that leave you? You'll still be without Sky Sport after that...

Well it will leave me with sky sports for a month for £2, and if that's the best I get then I will just have to find other ways to watch the matches I want after that.

However what I wanted to know was if the downgrade department would be more willing to make an offer than the upgrade department were.

I doubt your cancellation of Sky Sports (after one day) will motivate them to offer it to you any cheaper.

Maybe, but I have to cancel pretty much immediately because they have a 30 day notice period. I figured I would tell them the truth, £22 (soon to be £23) is more than I'm willing to pay. They can have some extra money or no extra money, up to them. They do have a rather large bill to pay to the EPL afterall...

Ok, result. I called sky and asked to cancel, giving cost as the reason. I was asked if I used everything, and said yes I used everything. They made me an offer including adding sky sports and free broadband for the year, which leaves me paying only a little extra than I do currently.

Tip, if you don't watch Sky F1 you can remove it and save £5.25 a month! That one had passed me by.
