I'm in debt again, going to try the CASH DIET CHALLENGE!

  • Hi Miss Debt,

Just thought I would pop in to your diary and say hello. You sound like you have a good plan in place! I also love excel spreadsheets - use them all the time to faff about with my finances!!

I should really get on to the PAD thing too, but have had a tight couple of months. Once I get next months pay I should be in a much better position to do PADing.

Love the sound of the cash diet too. If you have extra left at the end of each week, does that go to the debts too?

Have subscribed to your diary and will keep up to date on your progress.

  • Hey Mrs S. Leftover is going towards a weekend course and holiday in September.Earlier in the year I booked a weekend makeup course and a rather expensive "this is likely to be my last girlie holiday for a long time so let's do it properly" due to me getting married and realising we probably should save for a mortgage. Problem is when I booked them at the time I was of the opinion that I could easily save for them as well as an 160 people wedding we planned in 6 months and having a "keeping up with the jones" moment. On a positive note and probably justifying, I'm throwing myself into work and another qualification I'm studying for at the moment. Sorry about the huge waffle :)
  • Spent £13.60 today instead of £20.00 for work taxi, boo! At least I get the money back at some point, could've done without having to pay it though. Bought 10 bananas, 6 apples and some brown rice for £4.13, soooo expensive and the fruit was loose and from morrisons :( Spent about 10 minutes faffing about with the brown bread and then decided not to buy the bread. I'm going to attempt to make my own bread in a cake tin at the weekend, ha ha. I am determined to have a NSD tomorrow!
  • Ooh good luck with the bread at the weekend.

Are you watching great british bake off -bread week.

My spending money is going to be mixed in with the grocery fund and then transferred into a totally separate account on payday. What ever is spare in my bills account will be used to overpay and then whatever is left from my food & extras is going to be split 3 ways, treat, overpayment and emergency fund.

Now it's just the wait for payday !! Decided I want to be paid weekly so I can organise my money - Sad!!

  • Mrs S, congratulations to you,I got married the 20th of last month. I will continue to waffle then thanks to your encouragement :)

EWO, OH and I haven't had a tv licence for over a year now, we took our frugality a bit to far, lol. Actually, it was more due to the fact we always seemed to watch old episodes of things and wasnot watching the tv so we just got rid of it. We're both internet obsessed so having no TV is fine.

Just paid £1 to my Amex and working late tonight so definitely no spending for me, yay :) Have a lovely day everyone xx

I have just gone through all my finances and completed a daily finance excel sheet, I love excel spreadsheets! I have also just joined four other challenges, the September NSD, september grocery challenge, make a payment a day and clear your debt before XMAS 13. I also did a meal planner the other day so.....wish me luck and good luck with all your financial plans too :T

This sounds just like me, I looove my excel spreadsheet planner/budgeter/debt tracker. I balance it to my bank accounts every day and whilst this may seem sad, it helps me feel in control.

One of the issues I have with the meals is that hubby is never aware of what we have in the freezer, in fact he called me a while ago and asked what I fancied for dinner tonight and then proceeded to be 'shocked' at how much we have left in the freezer! Maybe he should be the one to do the shopping and putting away? A girl can dream!

Anyway, lots of luck with clearing your debts, it certainly seems that you have it under control. I'm sure this diary will keep you focused.

And congrats on the wedding :)

  • negative :( is that I am still at work but a positive is that I've managed to get my office to make up a team user name on MSE (pennypinchers) and start our own thread :T We even discussed how we're going to change our office and make it positive and a bit more feng shui and work towards our goals together, it's very exciting!!!

I joined topcashback this morning and did a host of things but not sure if it's going to work by hey ho, we will see.

@LMD hello, obsessing over excel everyday and my banks account sounds just like me! I use to work in a bank call centre (prior to online banking) and never understood why people kept calling every day to ask for their balance, I totally get it now!

@EWO Hey there, still here but I'm not spending lol. Yes, join the thread next month. We will all get there together :T
  • Ooh that's a really good idea, with everyone involved it will encourage you much more!
