How easy or difficult is it to use Ancestry co uk?

If we subscribe is it tied for a certain time, or can we leave, say after 3 months or so.

    Thanks in advance

It is easy and yes - you can.PAYG by the month

Just had an email saying free this weekend, 5-7 June.

I didn't include the link because it just takes you to the search page.

I am struggling to be able to use it.

I registered/free in 2010. Now I can log on, but when I click to see something it wants me to join/subscribe/pay.

It says I am a "Registered Guest" .... and I assumed that during the free weekend, once logged in, it'd just be an open door.

Stuck now ...not sure what to do .... delete that and re-register, wait as it's a blip, I'm supposed to have done something else, give up ....

Have you cancelled subscription. It won't let you do anything because you need to pay to see records.

    That is not necessarily true
Once you have created a tree on Ancestry - once your subscription has expired - you have access to THAT tree (and in my experience - any other recently accessed records) for 12 months after your membership expires...
Plus - another money saving suggestion is to share your subscription with a relative and make them a "Full access guest" - they have as much access to the site as you do - they can then reciprocate the following year - effectively making membership half price !!
Still more savings can be made by using Quidco cashback for 50% off membership in the first place !!

My local library is closed for the duration, of course, and they've given library members full access at home for the duration - to everything.  So for the first time, I'm able to see some passenger lists of 1930s ocean liners that are relevant to me, that sort of thing.  Check out your library for more permanent free access :)
