I have found one for £49.95. Where can I find the £29.95 version?

Perhaps it is this one? £29.98, and with 3 months Ancestry.co.uk 'essentials' membership.

Not sure how well 50Twuncle's trick will work though, as it seems you have to give them your card details, allowing them to take payment or force you to cancel.
The included 3-month Ancestry.co.uk™ 'Essentials' membership begins upon activation of the membership with a valid credit or debit card. Unless you cancel before the end of your included membership period, a paid 3-month 'Essentials' membership will commence at the end of the included membership period and the relevant price will be debited from your credit or debit card. Your membership will then automatically renew at the end of each 3-month membership period at the same price unless you cancel at least two days before your renewal date. To cancel visit the My Account section of Ancestry.co.uk or call 0800 404 9723. Use of Ancestry.co.uk is subject to our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy. See www.ancestry.co.uk for full details.
  • Our libraries in S. Ayrshire allow free access to Ancestry so it might be worth checking to see if yours do something similar.
The only down side is that you have to use the computer in the library but presumably you can save searches/documents and check them out at home later.

Thanks - I know what you are saying -and yes Ancestry do have my card details and now am down as a " guest member" -and have been for 4 months (since my FTM expired) but, for some reason - I still do have FULL access to all UK records...but only if I go in via FTM link. ..

I would not mind the trick not working. If I could find one for 29.99 and got 6months, that would be a good deal. I will have to keep looking. I have already compiled my family tree, as I joined for a year. What I did not do, was save all the census records to file. I didn't know I would lose them. I wanted to get back in there to do it again.
    Keep on trucking!

In that case, if you're not fussed about the actual family tree maker programme, you could try Family Tree Maker 2008 Deluxe, which "Includes 3 MONTHS premium access to ancestry.co.uk (Worth over £59) No Credit Card Required!" for just £7.99.

Thankyou so much. I have ordered it. It sounds like a great deal.

If you are searching for Scottish relatives, then sites like Ancestry.co.uk and Find My Past.co.uk are of limited use.
To find most details of Scottish relatives you need to use Scotland's People, which is a pay per search site that you buy batches of 30 credits to use, it is a great site for finding the information you need but it can work out quite expensive.

Just a little cautionary warning. I did buy this item. When I registered with Ancestry, they only gave me the basic package for 3 months, not the premium one. That was no good to me. I contacted them and was told that they no longer do the premium access for 3 months, only 6 months. They queried where I had bought the item. I said that I had got it from Amazon. Whilst they said that Amazon was allowed to sell it if they still had it in stock, it was going to cause them a problem. Anyway, luckily for me, they gave me 6 months premium membership. I am delighted but I would not advocate getting this out of date item to anyone else, if they are getting it purely for the membership, like I did , as they could find it a problem.. I still thank the person who allerted me to this offer, though.
    Keep on trucking!
