Six months to go...

Still haven't received the pension forecast I asked for six weeks ago - is this the normal level of service? I'm sure I read on the form that it would take 10 working days.
IN EDIT - yes, just checked the online form which has:How long will it take to get my statement?
We will normally send you a State Pension statement within 10 working days of receiving your application0 -
You'll be waiting for a new state pension statement which seems to be taking several weeks...

Yes, that's correct. I'll be patient!0 -
Did it this morning, thanks.
Got my quote through on Friday or Saturday (wasn't here so can't tell for sure).
Up to the end of tax year 2013/14 I have 45 qualifying years and my forecast is £142.01 per week. Caveat about it only being an estimate, not guaranteed and it may go up. Also a line about an amount (not specified) has been deducted as I was contracted out.
Blooming long ten day!
As I don't hit retirement age until 2019 I can live with the thought of that amount.0 -
The only downside to being 'retired' is that when the weather is really bad I tend to stay indoors and don't make myself go out the way I would have to if working full time.
I've taken on a one day a week role, starting in September, which is for an academic year. Whilst the body is ready to have a rest the brain is still being active and wanting new challenges. Hopefully they may match up sometime in the next few years.
I still read this board and sometimes end up screaming at the screen 'of course get a bloomin' pension set up'. Happiness is a pension payment rolling into the bank account every month.
I will need to keep an eye on tax now as I've registered with my banks with an R85 - don't want to get into bother with HMRC so I've set up a spreadsheet to input the figures and calculate the gross amounts to make sure I can spot when I've reached the tax allowance + £5000 limit.0 -
So you are back to work- retirement didnt last long lol.
The weather was so bad here on Monday, it was like a hurricane, no one with any sense went out

I prefer the term 'relaxed'! :rotfl: It's like a whole new life, choosing when to work / not work and having a bucketful of freedom. It's not really work, just sharing knowledge with a cup of tea in my hand.
Perhaps choosing to live on the west coast of Scotland with not a lot between me and America was not wise, but France holds nothing for me.0 -
I can see W scotland from my kitchen window lol.
i like France OK, even most of the people. They do get on my nerves now and again lol0 -

Oh  well at least it's a long coastline!
It's not France per se, just the mainland continent. Actually I can weather the weather here, my times in Australia over my younger years taught me that relentless sun and heat is just as difficult as rain, in different ways. Perhaps there is a place with a balance? Actually today is pretty good so there's hope that I can get out and spend some of my hard earned pension.0 -
One of the best climates is North Carolina.
Lots of trees for shade when it is hot, and not too cold in winter (apart from the mountains maybe).
Channel islands arent bad.0
