Thanks for this though can you explain more please? Why after April 2016 specifically?

I'm not sure that I can increase my SP for two reasons.
    1. According to DWP I have already contributed more than the required payments
    2. My superannuation payments include GMP

    Happy to be wrong! :j
Have you requested a forecast based on the new rules coming in from April 2016?
As you have so many years of contracted out service I would expect that whilst you have the required 30 years for a full pension on the current basis, the contracted out deductions would mean your 'foundation amount' on the single tier basis would be significantly less than the full single tier pension - and probably less than the pension calculated on the old basis. If this is the case then your foundation amount at the time of the changeover would be the higher of the two calculations ie the current full state pension.
For every additional year of NI contributions after April 2016 but before your state pension age you would earn 1/35th of the new single tier pension, up to a maximum of the full single tier pension. You won't have time to get to the full STP, but would get about a £4.20 a week increase for each year's NI contributions you did manage to fit in in this period.

Glad everything is going well for you.

It was interesting to read my post on this thread back in September 2013, when I said I was hoping to stop work in autumn of 2015.

As you can see from my signature, that date was brought forward, due to various reasons, including health reasons. I really can't imagine working now, it doesn't take long to forget all about work.

No, no, no. Decluttering is great fun. The things you turn up! I found my freshman Physics notes. I had had no idea that I once knew so much about Field Theory.
Free the dunston one next time too.

I decluttered when we moved house and was ruthless. As OH is an engineer he wanted to keep most rubbish - I was still ruthless!

Mind you I sat yesterday and scanned in another huge amount of papers / letters / photos / receipts which has somehow accumulated since then. Will do a big bonfire when the rain stops.

Yep - I feel a tad smug! :rotfl:

Now if you were properly MSE you'd be making them into briquettes for the woodburner!

Did Berlin, Bruge and Amsterdam. Decided to defer Australia as 1) I've been six times before and 2) I want to travel closer to home for a while.

    .

Talking of whimsical - just booked for 10 days in Australia! My youngest nephew is 30 this year and his girlfriend is planning a surprise party  The reason I've said 'yes' is that my brother and this nephew shared the same birthday and my brother died a few years ago just two days after their birthday. Nephew still gets very upset each year so this seemed a perfect chance to make it a little better. And I just fancied it.
