Courier destroys BOTH of my parcels, refuses to compensate. What are my options?

Can you upload the pictures of the damaged parcels so Posters can get an appreciation of this being negligent damage, not accidental damage.
If you went to court you'd probably lose as much money after costs as any money you'd recover because the judge might take into account that you didn't mitigate your risk by taking the extra insurance for higher value goods. It would be fair to think that the judge could say you and the delivery companies should share the loss 50/50.
If you went to court, you'd have to major on the loss being as a result of wilful damage or negligence on the part of one or both of the couriers and not accidental (re the insurance). Other than the photographs, what evidence do you have that the damage was wilful or negligent.
For the amount of monies involved I'd be tempted to accept the £30 (for each parcel - right?) and never use either company again.
You might consider posting pictures of the parcels on feedback sites so potential customers of these companies can see how their parcels could be treated.
Edit: - with regard to the parcel that was binned by the courier. Is there different terms in their T&Cs for non-delivery as opposed to the damage issue?~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Any more posts you want to make on something you obviously know very little about?"
Is an actual reaction to my posts, so please don't rely on anything I say.0 -
If you're claiming negligence, it becomes a lot harder to prove in the courtroom.
Take the £30 they've offered and the courier refund and save yourself hassle.0 -
Same thing could happen with any company though. Of course it could be argued that it is less likely to happen.
fair point......but its always my Hermes/parcel2go/yodel who are mentioned on here for damage/bad service/lost parcels etc.
Ups are one of the biggest in uk/Europe but don get many complaints0 -
Simple solution....use a reliable company with good reputation, might cost a couple of quid more than the cowboy companies like my Hermes/parcel2go etc.
Ups are good not the cheapest but you get what you pay for

all p2g does is save you having to go to every couriers site and then have to note down the details to compare with others.
so you have a choice to chose the cheap myhermes or go with the dearer fedex, But no matter who you chose they all lose and damage parcels0 -

Don't they? Or are they just better at handling complaints internally so people don't moan on the internet?0 -

i bet they lose and damages just as much, but because of the prices more people/companies use myhermes and yodel, so they get the more complaints on forums0 -

Tell that to the rackmount server I sent that they delivered in three pieces when it was only one at pickup...
Every courier has its issues - the ONLY reason you use a middleshipper is cost - and the only reason the carriers allow it is because they remove all risk.
I love it when someone buys a delivery from Parcel2go at say 90% less than direct and then they call up the courier company direct.
There is a staggering amount of money in being a middleshipper, the problem is, as a consumer its a much poorer experience when it goes wrong.
The couriers themselves are starting to insist the labels clearly show when its a middleshipper shipment, so their service teams know to refuse to assist a customer when they call. The quality of the service from them is only going to get poorer as the courier companies protect their direct customer business.0 -

and perhaps those using cheaper carriers, are more likely to scrimp on decent packaging0 -

Thats not all Parcel2go do - it removes the risk from the couriers - the couriers offer no insurance to middleshippers like parcel2go, they either self fund their insurance or buy a third party product.
They also bulk price, with a fixed rate up to a certain weight, the courier networks don't offer this, so for example, a 25kg shipment price allows parcel2go to make a significant margin on 5kg, but very little when the box is 24kg, to the consumer the price is the same, to parcel2go the theory is that the chances of losing a 24kg box is much less than a 5kg one.
As for packaging, its an easy way out for any claims. I do like it when people say 'I wrapped it in LOADS of bubble wrap' but it still arrived broken - bubble wrap flexes, it protect impact to an extent, but nothing lateral.
There's a reason packaging companies exist, because there is a significant art to correctly packaging anything.0
