I'm not much of a one for photo albums. They do tend to just gather dust and take up space IMO. But you can have the photos scanned professionally and stored on CDs / a hard drive, which to me is a much more practical way of storing any special pics. :)

My problems with that is it would mean:
    a) I've got to do something;
    b) the doing something would cost me money;
    c) I'd still have the stuff that's cluttering me up.
And I've now realised I can't get rid of 1976 trip photos, the 1987 trip photos ... and I'm back to where I started. I've been going round in these circles for the last 10 years and I still have no particular interest in actually looking at them! I'm nibbling away at the rest of the attic gibble instead.

In my HHC I put stuff up in the attic, stuff brought down from the attic for disposal and rehoming, the upshot of which is that I have cleared two boxes. That's progress. One set of bedding rehomed to the cottage and OH is taking my library books back so they've gone.
    Better is good enough.

HB have you got any close family that are the family historian/custodian? They may very well appreciate having your albums.....if not, I bet you if you set up a free basic family tree on one of the well known sites one of your more distant relatives will get in touch and you can offer them the whole lot

As much I want to de-clutter when the EX MiL passes she knows EX and his sister will lobb the whole lot out on the first dustbin day after she has gone. So she has put a note inside each one..."give to Wendy". Admittedly there are LOTS as her Dad used to develop his own photos in the old Anderson shelter at the bottom of the garden. It's part of the young Skints history so I feel honour bound to preserve it (although I have umpteen albums I need to scan for myself!).

Right, time for a brew, spend some time with Fred, then check listy!

It's a kind of challenge that came from me going out, to watch a band, on my own. Turns out there are a few of us with personal hurdles to leap, whether it is going out on our own or doing something solo...

we need to decide whether this is a separate thread or runs alongside flylady; so that's really down to you and Dusty; I'll message Dusty about it on FB.

    Flying

    errand done
    dinner scoffed
salad/veg boxes from fridge washed out
    bedding ironed
DS's bedding stripped - he is being 'awkward' re the flinging. Either he flings it or I will...

    DD has stripped her bed:A

going to shower then head to town for bras. It's desperate; one has snapped (wire) one has a poking wire and the elastic's gone on the third. I never have lots.:(

HB.. We've not had his results back yet. I will ring this afternoon if they've not called me. Pikachu are a type of pokemon.. yellow electric mice. DD2 (top) thinks she is ugly still.. but for 16 and 19 their skin is lovely.. most of their friends have awful complexions :( .. neither use anything but water to wash their faces.

Hoping the news from the vet is good. And your DD2 is wrong.:o

LW I have started doing an advert challenge for myself when I am watching the t.v. So when an advert comes on I go off and do what needs doing, then when the programme comes back I leave it until the next advert. I'm amazed at how much I am doing during these breaks :D
What a good idea! I don't see adverts - we tape what few programmes we bother with to fast-forward through the ads, but if you watch programmes as they are broadcast, it's a really good way to do stuff without knocking yourself into Wednesday week.:T

Has anyone else thought about ditching their old photograph albums? I was shoving stuff around up there the other day and I realised I haven't looked at any of my albums for over 10 years, and most of them not for 20 or more. I used to be terribly sentimental, but I'm not any more and the idea of living in the past just doesn't appeal any more. Anyone else feel that, or is this just a phase? I've got four or five boxes of albums, they take up a LOT of space and they're heavy. (When my mother died she had several dozens of albums and I'm afraid to say the sheer quantity was so overwhelming, we just let them all go. I occasionally think about the only decent photo of myself that someone took in the 1980s and realise I should have filleted that out and kept it, but not with any real regret. Is this feeling normal?)
If it was me, I'd scan selected ones (using my own scanner);) and get rid of the heavy albums. But I'm known for being as sentimental as your average brick wall!:D We only have two albums, one is some professionally done pics of Mr LW and I that I treated us to as a "special" because we rarely get any pics done together; the other is my canine "rogues gallery" - the franchisee takes a pic of me with the canine guests for their owners, and I get a copy too. Everything else is all on a USB flash drive.:o

Going to see how Lizzie gets on walking with the mobility buggy now..... wish me luck.:o
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

For those who aren't having a bank holiday - or or who wish to fly a little

    15 Minutes -100% done

30 Minutes - as above plus

    wipe the handles

1 hour - as above plus 100% complete

    Excellent extras

E&W - school looms - source those sandwich boxes and bags - make sure they're clean - wipe them out and let them air dry if necessary
What about making a banana loaf (fat free; recipe on request) then slice it before freezing - add a slice to the lunchbox - it will be thawed by dinner time (or lunch if you're in the South;) and keep the sandwiches cool!

    Ruby Tuesday

Bedroom antics! Main bedroom (yours!) or one in dire need! - DD3 currently working on her Skint Pit today (Friday!) we will shall see what is accomplished later

    15 Minutes? 100% complete

    30 minutes?
    Dust every surface
    Polish those mirrors
Dust the headboard if it's solid; vacuum it with the upolstery brush is it's padded
    wipe the switches

    1 whole hour

    dust the skirting board

Obviously (well I hope it's obvious!) start from the bottom of the list - the hour jobs need doing first!

    Extra challenge

pick a drawer and sort it. Lets have some order and no holey knickers, laddered tights or anything else LLA (left lying around) if it's past it's best it needs to GO!

Your bedroom should be a sanctuary; with fresh bedding, fresh air and a place of peace and pleasure...even if that pleasure is reading or just sleeping. You can't recharge your inner batteries if the charger's broken!

    Hump Day! Wonderful wiping Wednesday
    love your lounge!
    15 minutes?

    Open windows
think about where you sit - and ensure that the most irritating/annoying/niggly area in your line of sight gets some lurrve...clear a hotspot!

    30 minutes?
    dust everything you possibly can
wipe those light switches and ICKY remotes and any other sticky spots

    if it's a whole hour
then FULL MONTY - bring out the big guns - whatever equipment you need and tackle that floor; moving furniture if you can
don't forget the skirting board - if you've got it, it needs dusting!

Your lounge is for lounging IN and you cannot lounge in a messy, cluttered room. If you canniot deal with it in a day then start a dot to dot plan - get one area clear this week; get a second area clear next week end eventually the dots (ie clear areas) will join together (DOT-TO-DOT is pat. pending and belongs to AnWsmum!)

Pause for thought - time for those of you who think there is something you would like to have a go at, that is a personal challenge for YOU to think about what that challenge is and what you would need to do to achieve it.

I *may* be asking for names and challenges later; it needs to be decided whether this runs on the Flylady Thread or is a standalone thread and it's not just my decision;)

For the interim if you have a personal 'me mountain' to climb have a think about the steps you need to take to embark on the climb!

    Thrilling Thursday

    beautify the bathroom

    15 minutes?
clean the bath and polish the taps
if there's a shower screen wash it down with detergent and hot water

    30 minutes
once it's washed give the shower screen a polish
scrub the loo inside and out
    buff that basin

    Got an hour?

    as above plus tap polishing
    dusting
    mirror buffing
    clean the floor

    Friday's Final Flying Frenzy

    make an entrance...

    Halls, Stairs, Landing etc

    15 Minutes ONLY?

    Vacuum/sweep/mop that floor
Bang the door mats against the wall (outside) - put washable mats IN THE WASHER and get them on the line

    30 minutes
Put something welcoming by the door
    - might be a bright, clean mat, flowers, a pretty plant or a polished mirror
Get some soapy water and wash the front door

    a whole hour
    dust everywhere
make sure there is nothing left lying around - your whole way should be a clear passage way not a dumping area - if it is a dumping area attack a hotspot

Extras - next weeks meal plan won't write itself
shopping list - get it up to date
end of the month looms - get September's cards ready. A VERY important flylady has a September birthdays and a son going away to Uni the same week so she will need flysupport then;)
IRONING IRONING and More ironing - or fold diligently and PUT IT AWAY!

Hmm not much disappeared from listy....
Although I have defrosted my fridge (and sadly lobbed most of the contents) someone turned the dial up to 6 :mad::mad:, chucked a load of cooking salt over the ice, and put a plastic bowl with boiling water in, and came back in 15 minutes, all defrosted, then gave it a jolly good clean, including scrubbing the door seals with a cleaning toothbrush. All the shelves and bobbins are in DW having a good wash.

The indoor freezer is currently undergoing a salt steam bath. :D

The whole of the downstairs has a good hoover.

Another big basket of Mt Foldmore has been attended to.

A load of towels fed to WM and waiting for a bit of space on the line.

Big basket of DD4 washable nappies all rubbed through and now on a boil wash (a task made worse by baby led weaning, although the nappies never smelt of roses, they were definitely easier on the nostrils when she was 100% on Daisy mode :o )

Hmm, need to get the mechanical sheep out to munch the grass in a bit before I have to send DS out into the garden with a flag to wave so I know where he is.....and still so much on the list to be done

5 more minutes, another brew, then I will get started!

ooh... a me mountain.. I want to enrol on some kind of study .. it'll have to be a home study thing and cheap/free but I NEED to focus my tiny little shrimp-like brain... and my other me mountain... kicking OH to find a job... he needs to be out of the house for a bit and meet new/some people and I need the time without him... nothing to do with money at all just selfish personal needs :p Even a PT/voluntary job would be good for him and give me time to get some flying done without being resentful that he is sat treating it as a spectator sport.

Chunky monkey squeaking for food again.. I swear she never stops eating!

DD3 school shoes bought.. I've spent just short of £400 on shoes alone for 8 of them.. they need to stop growing!! Good job most of them will get the full year out of them because I can't afford that every few months. I have the next size up for Squeak and Dot form the Clarks sale and the next size for Moomin and Tiddles too.. that saved a few quids.

DS2 is going to be dragged to college to sort something next week... I believe he is thinking if he does nothing to chase them I won't notice.. sorry boy you WILL be doing something!!

I have decided to nip into opticians and ask about having some purple and pinks frames with her new prescription in.. she hates her lovely red frames and insists on wearing her purple ones which are a bit small and bend her ears and also half her needed prescription.

    hooters fettered

It's a long time since I bought new 'top' undies - so this tight elastic feels weird :rotfl: Almost like an asthma attack! Of the three I had two MUST be thrown and 1 will do for 'emergencies'. There's only me to see them;)
I got a black one, a white one and a pretty grey one.
