  • What I said was "they are on a par with BMW and MB for quality" meaning their quality stands up to comparison. I didn't say they were competing for the same market, which they are not.

And for a car to do 22k in 12 months - well it wasn't off the road too much was it. 22k in 12 months is more than double the national average mileage.

I do 20k a year and almost all of it is at weekends, it could be off the road 50% of the time easily.

And would you call that reliable? Or do you want to do 40k a year but are unable to do so because your car is always in the garage?

We are moving away from the point of this forum - which is to find the OP a reliable car. I maintain that the Mondy IS a reliable car. Other people have their opinions. In the end, the OP will have to make up his own mind.

    Totally agree.

For reference our Mondeo did spend time off the road with faults, but I really can't be bothered to go into them, it will only further detract from the OPs request for ideas.

The only point I attempted to make was that the diesel X Type offered the advantages of the Mondeo diesel, eg low running costs etc with the added benefits of a Jaguar, eg. luxurious interior, high spec, less anonymity etc

No doubt the OP already had a few ideas in mind before posting here, after all, who takes a strangers personal opinions into account when making a major purchase such as buying a car?
