Special Delivery item missing - signed as Delivered on website

Hello,
20th of August I've bought item for 200 pounds on eBay. As I saw later it has been dispatched as Special Delivery at 22th of August to Royal Mail. Day later I've checked the number on Track and Trace website. It shows the item has been Delivered. I check out the signature - some scribbles, my surname under the signature and 22th August 11:55 GMT time. I live in UK, and so the time for my place should be 12:55. At that time I was home and I didn't heard anyone knocking at the door or receiving the package.
I asked seller from eBay (which is very nice by the way, and he seems as he is trying to help) if he sent it to correct address and he said he did. I've called Royal Mail and they gave me a number of complaint. I also asked people that live with me, and some neighbours, but neither of them received anything.
I am worried, cause it's my first eBay order in UK and it's missing - also it's really not a money I can just waste...
What can I do? Is it normal for Special Delivery to be delivered to someone else? Can Royal Mail check the GPS location of PDA at that time to find out where it has been signed? And should I go to the office or should I just wait for them to do something?
I will appreciate any kind of help!

For starters, RM need to speak to the postie who delivered it and ask which house they delivered it to.
Continually chase RM.
Did the seller send to your PayPal address? Is this the same as your EBay address?Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Yes, seller did send it to my PayPal address - it's the same as on eBay.
Actually seller wrote to me, that he spoke with lady on Royal Mail and she said, that the GPS localized in van showed that it was near my place - GPS is not that accurate, so it could be delivered to me or one of neighbours.
The problem with GPS is that when I type my address in Google Maps it localizes a church which is like 10 houses away from my place (but on the same road and around the church there are other houses).
I believe the method you provided will be the best - RM should ask the postie which house was it delivered to.
Thanks for the answer, and if someone else has any feedback I would be more than happy to hear it!0 -
Technically, it is still the seller's responsibility to get the thing to you.
It might be a good idea to get the seller more involved, by perhaps getting him to chase RM from his end.0 -
Just FYI 11:55AM GMT is 11:55am, not 12:55pm. GMT is Greenwich mean time, and the time all over the UK.
Just in case you were not in at 11:55am.0 -
Isn't GMT just in the winter months?
We are on British Summer Time, GMT+1, at the moment.
No, pretty sure most places use GMT as GMT is the time as recorded at the Greenwich observatory. So even though we're an hour ahead, as the observatory is too, it's simply GMT. Some people use (+1) to indicate BST, but it's generally seen that GMT is current UK time.
I may be wrong, but that's what I was taught.
Otherwise, places use BST.
I believe we're supposed to use UST now though, not GMT?0 -
There are dozens of scenarios, here. Our current posties are great, but in the property we used to live in we'd regularly have our post stolen by the postman.
If we got cards, they were opened. If we got parcels, we discovered that he would sometimes sign for them and take them with him. On other occasions we had parcels delivered to neighbours that would then deny receiving anything, so that's a possibility though if the parcel was clearly signed for with your name then I'm more inclined to say that it was the postie.
Ours had a particularly affinity for anything game/DVD-shaped. The neighbours once received a parcel that they denied having. It was lingerie, for me. I think they must have waited about four days before opening, to check that I was off their case for a while...once they realised what was inside, they came to drop it off with 'Sorry, a housemate had taken it and he hasn't been in lately, so we didn't know'.
Yet, you need to keep on at RM for the specifics. Sadly, we didn't. It usually annoyed us so much that we gave up wasting money on phone calls arguing back and forth. We were pushovers. I wouldn't recommend that now.

No, GMT does not change. BST is GMT+1.0 -
Thank you for answers . Even if it was 11:55 I was still home. As far as I know today is a bank Holiday so post Office is closed. I hope it was delivered somewhere and not stolen by postman.0
