What do the WI actually do? Is it a bit like the girl guides for adults?
My nearest is at a time I couldn't make, my next nearest I possibly could. I'm not religious though, so wouldn't want to be involved in christian/catholic etc meetings.0 -

There are lots of meet up groups, if one doesnt work, try another, or start one yourself. My nearest big city is Glasgow and all the meet up groups were there but someone started one in the next town and its just a group of people who go out once a month or so for a meal, they do other things too but just a meal suits me.
Exercise classes, you say you want to exercise in the morning. I have a gym membership, I too do my classes in the morning, I make good use of my membership and Ive never really made friendships there, but I used to teach classes for that chain and a group of women who started doing my classes about 3 years ago are now firm friends.
Im not a single parent, I have no kids, but I do know what its like to spend time on my own, being in a rut, think it happens to a lot of people.
All I do know is, you have to get out there and mix, people arent going to knock your door.
Also as dating sites go, POF can be very hit and miss, but there are decent people on there, just a matter of finding them.
If you get housing benefit or even working tax credit some colleges will give you a fee waiver and you wont need to pay anything for short courses.0 -

I'll look into some others, thanks.

I do have a swim membership and go usually on a Monday morning, but since the summer hols, the lane swimming hasn't been at times I can go. I still take the kids for fun though, so getting my money's worth.

I'll double check that, I was only on income support / jsa for 5 months but remember my college had contribution based courses. Now i'm on WTC, i think I'd have to pay full price, i'll look again. Thanks.0 -
Just checked, am not entitled, but thanks for the suggestion.
Will look at meet up again now.0 -
What Ive vowed to do now is do something for me, low cost it has to be, but my local college offers stuff like aromatherapy and reflexology cheaply, might be worth looking into. Might give you a bit of a boost and help you sleep as well.
Im not really into all that but with the job I do I end up a bit sore now and then so thought I would.
Its a bit of relaxation at the same time as well.0 -
It sounds like you're gasping for some adult company. Volunteering for something can often fill that hole. I've no idea what you could volunteer for, but there must be something that will fit round your work that you'll find interesting, rewarding and you can do in the company of other adults.
If you can garden, then your local hospice might welcome you with open arms - there are 60 adult volunteers at my local one..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0 -

http://www.property118.com/breaking-news-universal-credit-reforms-may-be-unachieveble/39847/It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -
Thanks for that............<settles down and gets comfy!!>:rotfl:0 -

I am unsure if one is in my area and hope there would be some similarly aged ladies.
I am one of the youngest but they are a group of forward thinking and likeminded women so somehow age doesn't matter. However there are lots of New Wave Wi's which also look lots of fun and very funky.
If you look on the WI website you will find your federation (your area ) and then local meetings are listed xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0
