the thought is possible that kids in hoodies will want the keys and target the owner, but is rare occurance, many just want in and out and away with the car, as if their caught they get a lesser charge than assault threats to kill or physical bodily harm to add to their wrap sheets and having to be someones biatch for longer in the HMP showers.
"Kids in hoodies" possibly not the ones doing this kind of crime, not on the scale OP is talking about.
And yes it's been going on for years, doesn't make it any easier to live with! Be nice people0 -
Exactly, the ones doing this sort of crime are nasty !!!!!!!s doing it for a living. Because of what we do for a living, we sometimes have flash cars on our drives at night and we're all in agreement that we leave the keys on the table downstairs so they're the first thing someone breaking in sees.Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?0 -
It could be someone with the "blue box" A mystical gadget from China that bypasses the key systems via wireless methods , crooks have moved on and the standard security is now very insecure indeed.
Fitting a secondary device such as a steering wheel shield is a good investment.
The cars are often stripped for parts.Be happy...;)0 -

My guess would be from one of the insurance compare websites.
RS4's aren't exactly rocking horse excretia, there are two on my street and an RS6, and I can guarantee when I go for sunday lunch this afternoon there will be at least two RS4 avants in the car park.
It wouldn't be too hard to go out with a 'shopping list' of expensive metal, I know of a warehouse about 2 miles from where I live that contains over 2 million quids worth of supercars and this is oop north.
Nicking them would be the hard part.0 -
Or they were not really the police and just wanted to see where you put your keys and how often you use the car, When your out etc.
Uniforms from the party shop, Police markings on the car magnetic stick on ones. Removed around the corner before they got pulled.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
High end cars stolen to order to find a new life in another country, has been going on for years.
Get 2x wheel clamps and clamp the wheels. Or get a bloody loud alarm system fitted, CCTV and strong flood lights, will get the crims running.0 -

Dont they all. Look how many corrupt people there are in authority.
Police, MP's Bank managers, Judges etc etc etc....
Some serial killers were nice family people until they find the stack of bodies.
Neighbours say he was such a nice man, He said the funny smell coming from his house were his pigeons.

Sorry but this kind of thing has been happening for years
There's a huge market for high end cars - around here they'll also take old bangers etc, joy-ride and then burn them out!:(
Happened in a few films I bet, only 1 I can think of now is Gone in 60 seconds with Nic Cage.0
