No, just more observant than your average bear.

Well, there's the problem, he thinks he's a bear so is constantly keeping an eye out for the zoo keepers who are trying to recapture him. :rotfl:
  • It's rather sickening to think that someone would force entry to our family home to steal a car!

    Seriously?

Sorry but this kind of thing has been happening for years

There's a huge market for high end cars - around here they'll also take old bangers etc, joy-ride and then burn them out!:(

    pointless post, not even amusing
The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....
  • its all well and good having big security signs and boxes etc everywhere, but its all screaming out i have something valuable to protect.

the thought is possible that kids in hoodies will want the keys and target the owner, but is rare occurance, many just want in and out and away with the car, as if their caught they get a lesser charge than assault threats to kill or physical bodily harm to add to their wrap sheets and having to be someones biatch for longer in the HMP showers.

Could say the same about yours
  • Uncle got targeted once, he loved that Daewoo. :D

They had really just burgled the house but took the car too. It was recovered a couple of weeks later after a police chase some 100 odd miles away.

They would burgle a house, steal the car if they could then use that on their next excursion

It is unlikely that you've been followed home, but this list has come from somewhere.

Perhaps the car dealer who sold the car, or the place you have it serviced? Or a local insurance broker? Hopefully the police are already looking into those sources.

No, it's very likely they were followed. That's how they operate - they have a list of cars to find, and sit and wait for one to go past then follow.

OP - check your wheel arches for any devices the crims may have placed. It's been common to find a small GPS transmitter fixed to the wheelarch so the crims know when the car is home or left elsewhere.

That would be a very time consuming job sitting and waiting for an Audi RS4 Avant to come past, they aren't your average family hatchback.

My guess would be from one of the insurance compare websites.
  • Some interesting responses here!

Some even more interesting responses about the car - yes, it is a flash car. It isn't my cup of tea, but my dad likes it. He paid cash for it, and worked hard for that cash. It certainly isn't a question of having a flash car on the drive, for the last five years our house has been the weak link of the street. Most of the other homes there have £30k + motors parked outside, ours has a six year old, 130k Volvo and an ancient Primera. It looks great when I visit with my battered Accord, too. The Audi leaves the garage possibly once a fortnight, and when brought home, is put straight back in the garage. It isn't an advertisement for free money.

As for not knowing you'd been followed, I don't know about that. I think I'd probably notice if I'd been, as I do tend to notice things like reg plates etc, but my dad less likely. Ultimately, it shouldn't be something you're thinking about constantly. The police have noticeably ramped up their patrols in the area, before this you would be lucky to see one police car a year in the town he lives in. Now there's one passing through every few hours.

Definitely happens. A friend had his van stolen (obviously a decent van) from outside his house one early morning recently. He was basically in it so he ended up injured and in hospital because they bundled him over to get away with the van. Apparently they had been sitting in the road in a car for a long time staking out various houses, work vans and nice cars.

It's horrible and to have received a visit from the police proving you are being targeted is even worse :(
