Does you cat come in without playing silly ruggers?

One comes in for treats, the other comes in for toys. Even rain doesn't make them come in, the maine coon hides in the shed while the kitten quite happily sits in the least sheltered part of the garden.0

Ours isn't that great at coming in when called, but because of this he's not allowed outside after 8pm (later at weekends if we're feeling generous, but not if it's really nice 'cat weather' and he's been lazing around all day) but we don't let him stay out all night because a) he's never made it past 2am without wailing the street down and b) he fights with next door's small female cat who mainly goes out at night.
Does anyone else traipse the streets calling their cats at silly o'clock and then have their cat appear 10 minutes later as though they had no idea?0 -

A friend of mine went around the streets at 2am then 5am once, when her cat appeared to have gone missing. The whole time the cat was asleep on her daughters bed. The cat couldn't be bothered to answer to her name :rotfl:0 -
Twice in the past two nights I have gone looking for moggie no1. I was outside calling, searched the house from top to bottom - not sign. Last night I did a very thorough search including low shelves which madam never uses as she prefers to sleep up high. I found her tucked up on the bottom shelf of a wardrobe where old jeans are being stored.
We've wondered for months how she managed to come out of that room after it being searched and we had called her for half an hour- now we know.0 -
Moggie 1 only really goes out when absolutely necessary these days, but Moggie 2 will simply disappear in the summer evenings and spend all night on the tiles, if he isn't in by midnight he wont be in til morning.
Wait til winter and we're having to force him outside for 5 mins cos it's cold on his ikle paws..........0 -
OP
Try a laser pointer, my cat goes ballistic with ours. I run it from where she is, to inside and she follows it in.

I think we have the only cat who is not interested in laser pens. He tried to humour us once, but just jumped up at the actual pen. He was about 4 and we ended up passing it to my parents whose 13 year old cats started acting like kittens for it!0 -
Absolutely loving these stories! My Lily likes to play catch me if you can too, since moving to somewhere with a big garden she's become enamoured with the outdoors and if we don't get her in the minute it goes dark we're out until the wee hours of the morning calling for her. She howls to be out desperately but I think she's starting to learn 8/9pm is bedtime!
I've just gone out to look for her and caught her offguard wandering across the patio so locking her in was a breeze tonight! It's often not so easy though.:heart2:0 -

Our oldest hates catnip, actually runs away from it. The younger one goes into the throes of ecstasy but not madam.0 -
People saying let them out hungry and they come back when you shout dinner, well ours is a crafty little thing. She miows like crazy for food and will pester you until you fill her food bowl with wet food and she sits there waiting for you to fill it up and as soon as you do guess what? she runs off outside. Its like she wants to make sure there is food for her to come in and go back out when she wants.
It drives me and my mum insane there has been rows over it and everything. We try let the cat out during the day and keep her in at night. But she loves going out a night and is desperate to get out. Cats are ninjas especially when letting the dog out for last toilet time at say 10pm.
Once she out when its dark thats it your not getting her back for hours. If you try call or look like you want her in it will make her more determined to stay out. Just gotta act like your not bothered and then when she comes in casually walk to the backdoor and then close it as fast as possible. Many a times i've not been quick enough and
Hotel for cats!0
