Amazon supplier refusing a refund

So last may I put in an order for a RAM module for my PC, shortly enough it arrived but I found it was dead as soon as I put it in my PC and a mem test confirmed that. So I filed for a refund and paid for the product to be sent back to the supplier, a month passed and I still am yet to receive either so I contacted them and queried where my replacement was.

They said in return the parcel had not been delivered (Even though the royalmail parcel tracker said it had been) and that they cant give me a refund until they get the parcel signature. I then phoned up royalmail who promptly told me it was not my job to track the signature but the company in question so I sent another email to the Amazon supplier telling them to contact royalmail and gave them the necessary parcel details.

I left it another week and still no reply on a replacement/refund and when I emailed the Amazon supplier again they said its RoyalMails job to provide a refund as they have not received a signature from them, So I did I filled out a p58 form for a refund on the parcel but Royalmail sent back a letter the next week saying my refund request has been denied as lost/damaged parcels are not covered for refunds.

What should I do in this situation? the company in question claim not to have the received the parcel but RoyalMail say it has been delivered even though they cant supply a delivery signature.

Anyhelp with advice for this matter would be much appreciated, because at the moment it just looks like I've thrown my money into a blackhole with no hope for a refund :(

What Royal Mail service did you pay for and what compensation does it offer? How does that compensation compare to the value of the goods within the package you are claiming for?

I paid for second class mail (no idea how much now as I sent the receipt back with the form for a refund) which should cover for up to £20 and the RAM stick I purchased cost £29.41 Surely they should at least cover the cost of a part refund?

Do you get parcel tracking on second class mail?
  • Yes I tracked it online and it said the parcel had been delivered. (Pic related)

*Edit* it seems I cant post links as a newbie

Rm don't always get signatures, nor do they have to. Was it a tracked service? Or signed for service?

Why would RM pay out they have delivered? What has Amazon a-z said.

There is a track and trace feature on the royalmail webpage and yes it does work with 2nd class, I would post a screenshot to show you but an unable at this time.

I'm not sure, I get the feeling the amazon supplier is just trying to get out of paying for a refund personally ive been trying to get a refund for about 3 months now hence me signing up to this site. But I will give Amazon a-z a try thanks I haven't contacted them yet.

UH-OH. That should've been the 1st thing you did, you would have got a refund. The tracked system, uses track and trace but no signature.

I feel from what you've said the seller has strung you along so you are now out of the A-Z gte (I think) and now has the delivered product.

In your case, with POD, I'd go to small claims court.

    You keep quoting 2nd class
you didnt have '2nd class' if you have tracking
    its a simple question
So you paid extra and added 'signed for'?

As said. go down the Amazon A-Z process

I've just checked, as I suspected he has been strung along until he is out of time.

Your only option now, is small claims. I personally would, easy to do and you can add your fee onto the claim.
