Wizzair Flight Delay Compensation

Hi,
I was on a flight with Wizzair from Warsaw to Doncaster that was delayed over 3 hours. I have been in contact with them via email and they of course cite 'extraordinary circumstances' as the reason they won't pay.
They admit a technical fault, which the captain said happened many hours before the flight. He said they've been delayed all day since a morning problem and our flight was in the evening. They airline have not refuted this, but neither have they confirmed it. I have asked them to clarify, citing the europe.eu guidelines, especially as they say the technical fault must be 'immediately before or during the flight'.
Once I asked them for specifics they have put up a wall of silence saying they will only answer to a suitable authority. I then asked them to just answer yes or no as to whether their technical fault meets that criteria and they just repeated the answer.
I have fired off an email to the regulator in Poland, where the flight was from, but not heard anything back yet.
Whats the next step? If they are refusing to give any details, do I have a chance of progressing it further, in court if necessary?

I'd be interested to know if you hear back, as I wrote to them (https://www.ulc.gov.pl) about a delay with Ryanair during the week.0
