Bus stop outside house yay or nay?

I have bus stops front & back, can you believe?
Apart from being very handy for catching the bus, I think the observers from the top deck at the back, and the people queuing at the front are very helpful in discouraging burglars.0 -
I think the bus might sound quite noisy as it was pulling away. How far away is the stop from the house, and are there any bedrooms out the front?
Also, for example, is there a public house nearby, as you might get people who have had a few drinks being generally noisy and silly outside your house in the evening whilst waiting for their bus.
We currently live smack dab in the middle of the city, so we're used to squeaky bus noises. The stop is right outside the house, I don't know the exact layout but its a 3 bed, I would think at least one bedroom is at the front.So. Do you have a low wall in front of your house and what stops them putting a shelter in tomorrow.
There is no wall or hedge at all, you can drive straight on to the driveway. I would imagine that I would have good grounds to object if the council put a bench/shelter in as that would be obstructing my access. However I don't even know if the council bother to post notifications for that kind of thing
Thanks guys, you've given us food for thought. I guess we'll get a better feel for the place tomorrow when we view.0 -
People stand at bus stop and while away the time gawping at your windows. Bus pulls up at stop and passengers while away the time gawping at your windows.
I hope you like thick nets and closing the curtains before you put a light on in a room..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0 -
get on the bus and go past the house and see what you think .
Is there a bus lane ,is there a bus every 10 minutes or once a week .
Has the house double glazing .Where do the passengers sit/ stand while waiting for the bus.
Can you post a link so we can be nosey and pass comments

If you have starlings in your roof, they will clear up all the dropped bus tickets for you - mainly into your roof. You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0

My parents house has a bus stop outside on the other side of the road (with a shelter) and one on the same side of the road a few doors down without a shelter. They were only ever a convenience, being able to hop on the bus from the front door was very good. During the time I lived there the bus stop was smashed up once or twice a year, which was annoying to wake up to smashing sounds from idiots, but aside from that there were no problems.
Although I do agree with what Errata said, you'll need to have blinds or net curtains because people do naturally wander with their eyes and end up looking inside, it's not really a huge problem because bus stops are mainly used during the day (when you're probably at work?) but it's not perfect. If you don't really care about privacy then it won't matter to you one bit. I lived in an apartment for a year where a significant portion of the front wall was a window and it didn't bother me that people could see in when they walked past, although everyone is different...0 -

I'm a bit dubious about Huyton, That particular road seems all right but then as you go north it gets dodgier. Finding affordable OK areas in Merseyside is a nightmare.0 -
Our last house had a bus stop right outside, and I'd never buy a house with one outside again. Here's why...
Car damage; Our car got hit twice by buses in the 8 years we lived there. Both times the bus company said "prove it or get stuffed".
Noise: At any time of day or night, people and buses. If buses are early they will idle at certain bus stops until they're on time again.
Rubbish: People leave rubbish at bus stops. Often there was rubbish thrown into our garden. I caught one teen throwing a can into our garden once and scared the living **** out of him for the privilege.
Problem kids: Now and again bored kids with thick parents would be found rampaging around the garden. Wonderful.
Meeting place: Needs no explanation.
Basically OP run a mile.Pants0 -
