If op means the ticket is in her name but payment from the third partys account - then i'm not sure I understand how this works as surely they credit search whomever is buying it, irrespective of the fact its coming from a different account........0

thought it was against the rules of an active bankrupt to get credit over 500. instalments are credit.
just buy a monthly one and accept that your not meant to get credit when your not discharged.
why do folks think the bus company are being unfair. the op has shown that they really cant manage money yet they want someone to bung them 600 quids worth of it.0 -

Probably because travel for many is not a choice, it is a necessity - and frankly an expensive one!
What a load of rubbish!!the op has shown that they really cant manage money yet they want someone to bung them 600 quids worth of it.
Many people go BR for a range of reasons - some of which are through no fault of their own. Making out simply being BR means you cannot manage your money is the biggest load of carp i've read on this forum.
What if for example op fell ill & was forced to leave a high paid job, fell behind with a mortgage having the house repossessed and left with a significant shortfall following the crash in the market.
What if for example op run a successfull business and when the economy plummeted multiple clients accounts turned to bad debts and lead to a massive downward spiral.
There are many what ifs that are basically down to idiocy - and many which are very unfortunate. So don't have the audacity to tar everybody with the same brush!0 -
It should be made clear that the OP doesn't need any credit. They just want to buy a monthly pass, but it seems that National Express's system doesn't allow this.0

My reasons for bankruptcy was not because of my own management of accounts, it was due to a relationship breakdown. Yes it's my fault I got in that mess by prematurely deciding to go into a mortgage with someone who in the end couldn't be trusted. But all my bills are paid on time, including my credit card when I had one.
What the issue is that if the bus company are refusing a £49.50 bus pass paid by monthly direct debit then they are penalising people due to the fact that a 4 weekly pass bought at the local shop is over £100 more expensive a year.
They could change the service whereby if you want a bus pass monthly you have to pay a month upfront before sending out the pass. As mids_costcutter said there is no max contract so if someone stopped paying then they just wouldn't issue a pass.
It doesn't exactly help people get back on their feet really does it. And yes it's only a tenner here and there but it all adds up.0 -

Why do you continue to confuse the issue. The £49.50 DD option is a 12 month contract which is why the OP has been rejected on a credit check.
From the website "The scheme has a minimum contract term when joining of 12 months from your initial start date"
The OP would not be able to cancel after 3 months if they wanted, if they did and refused to pay the reminding 9 months, the only threat to not pay the remaining contract is to report them to credit agencies and damage their credit worthiness. However NX don't really have this an option for a bankrupt so refuse to offer this.
Not sure why this is so difficult as it has been mentioned several times and even the OP now acknowledges the option he chose is for 12 months.0 -
They can equally report to a CRA for a BR as they would for any other person.
Credit reports are a matter of fact though and certainly shouldn't be treated as a method of enforcement. All the usual enforcement methods are available.0 -

Of course it's not a matter of enforcement it is a consequence. But for debts of only hundreds of pounds, it is likely to not be cost effective to have an expensive debt collection department. So all the firm has to them is gaining a default/CCJ and then selling the debt for a pittance.
As this is not a serious consequence for a bankrupt (their credit rating is hardly going to look worse), firms are not going to take the risk of lending to them.0
