Personally I'd stay with Nationwide and open both First Direct and Halifax. You can get £385 over the next 12 - 18 months for doing that if you play your cards right.
Reason for moving because NW where rude and not helpful to my partner

So your not even moving because you disliked the service? Sounds a little heavy handed to me.
  • Sorry maybe my description was unclear, it hasn't one employee it has several phone conversations and talks with staff members. Without going into much detail there was a bit of fraud and the bank refused to do anything even after complaints so I'm £800 down. Lucky even enough the fcs are looking into it about refunds.

Plus the £100 bonus defo convinces me that I should go, even if my reasons to leave are childish in some people's eyes.

As for the online account, I think I've been able to log in a hand full of times without something be missing in one way or another. Sometimes it accounts missing, others it takes 10mins to load.i also have to log out for any changes to updates ( I.e transfer funds from savings to current account etc)

    "Halifax offer me nothing"

Really? I got £100 for joining and £5 a month.

    That's £160 tax free for a year.

Sorry to say, but it's not tax free.

    Your £100 I believe is.

but your £5 reward is post tax, you've actually earned £6.25, but Halifax have paid 20% tax for you. If you're a zero rate tax payer, you should fill in an R85.

    ;)

Typo?...you'd need to complete an R40.

Strange ... I very rarely have problems with Nationwide's online banking ... and judging by the distinct lack of complaints about their online banking on here, I'd guess that most people find it works well.

Maybe a problem with your computer/browser/internet connection?

I've tired with multiple platforms and browsers, I also have a 10up 10down Internet connection which I never push so I don't think it's that either.

Maybe I'm getting hung up on the £125 payment for switching and picking at faults

If it's the £125 from FD you are after, you can get those without closing your Nationwide account. You just have to be a bit creative, and do a bit of research on the MSE forums.

There is a lot more than the FD £125 to get if you play your cards right. Again, plenty of information of the forum, you just need to piece it together for your circumstances.

oh yeah I got £100 when I transferred an old NatWest acc and I get the free £5 but I meant things like pre approval for credit cards, loans & mortgages ect.

I must say, I check mine weekly and never noticed any of those problems. Certainly if I transfer funds, I can see the effects immediately and the transactions are updated there and then.

Agree with others that moving because you encountered a rude member of staff seems excessive. The bit that hasn't yet been mentioned is this...

No bank's online banking will update as soon as you do a debit card transaction (presumably this is what you are referring to?) as it will be a few days before the retailer claims the payment.

If you are looking for decent online banking and/or mobile app, then stay well away from First Direct.

Most banks will update their website as soon as a purchase is made - the available balance will reduce although the name of the merchant won't show until at least the following day.

Nationwide on line statements are a full day behind which is hopeless. That is more of a reason to leave rather than because of one rude individual.
