Stung by halifax web saver reward scam. Advice?

I tried changing the name of the account back from Xtra Rip off Account back to its default... and it now shows as Reward Saver opened on 8 April 2011.
The card says Web Saver.
I thought I had fathomed the mystery of the account name - but I hadn't.0 -
So you were told to choose black, thought black was the only colour available, so decided to click "White" without any idea of the consequences ?
Thats like going into a restaurant that you've never visited before, ordering their finest steak, and then complaining because the bill was higher than you thought it would be.0 -

Didn't that ring alarm bells?
Hey Halifax, why is my account called Reward Saver in online banking, but Web Saver on my ATM card?
That'll be because you have the web saver account, sir.
Oh right, so whats the interest on that account?
0.25%, sir.
Oh right, looks like I opened the wrong account. I wanted the 2.8% account as advertised on your website. Can I close this one?0 -

I don't remember saying I was blameless.Despite you having admitted here various times that you "didn't see" the IMPORTANT clause on the application form,
Yes, it is not terribly big you know....that you were "in a hurry", that you asked for the card because your "Mum liked the idea".
Not sure why that is a problem. She liked cards... She liked gazing over my shoulder at the computer screen and poking at things with her finger, even though she had very little idea what is going on... She liked the memory of being in control...I guess. And you never once seem to have logged into the account to confirm that your Mum's £50K had been transferred properly - - if you had done so, you would have noticed that is said "Interest rate: 0.25%" in clear text at the top of the account. Of course, I might be wrong and you may have logged in but "not seen it" in this case, too.
Hmm... I went to the accounts sometimes - but very rarely opened the Reward Saver- as we never used the money in it. So no, I didn't see the interest rate. It was just a holding place for savings money that needed to be available in case they were required for a dementia nursing home - at £1000 a week. When looking at accounts, you can't see the interest rate. And now when I go in there, it says 0% anyway, not .25%.You clearly expect that you are being let off despite yourself not living up to the standards you expect from others.
Last time I looked I wasn't a public listed company, answerable to the BCOB, trusted to look after other peoples money, who spends millions each year promoting the fact that they 'give a little extra'.[/QUOTE]0 -
I still don't understand why the majority of posters here, cannot accept that the web application form, and all emboldened and indicated terms and conditions were changed AFTER the op took out the acct.
All those showing screen shots are showing those available after the date in question.
The ombudsman seems to not have had the correct adverts for the date in question and made their judgement w/o, nor will Halifax hand them over as requested.
County court would be your only legal option, still think you should go the twitter/facebook option first.0 -

As I say, we never used the card. It was a toy... basically. But had I phoned the Halifax, the conversation would have been more like this:
I'm sorry Sir, but we can't speak to you about your mother's account because you are not listed on it.
But I'm registered for power of attorney!
You will have to ask the branch.
Can you tell me why...
I can't see you on the account Sir, so I can't tell you anything about it. You have to go into the branch.
In branch:
We can't talk to you about your account unless you come in with your passport and a recent utility bill as proof of address.
But you know who I am! I spoke to you last week to re-set my telephone banking - again.
I'm sorry Sir, those are our rules....
Etc.
So I stopped using Halifax, and instead used Mum's accounts at Lloyds.0 -

There are some posters here who are very invested in calling other people stupid. It seems a bit of a haven for bullies of a certain stripe...All those showing screen shots are showing those available after the date in question.

I don't really do twitter or facebook... So far developed, my plan is to write to the CEO - Antonio Horta-Osario, I guess, and see if there are any other options beside court. MeanwhileI plan to DSAR all the paperwork, phone calls etc. and then go to somewhere like press or MoneyBox. But if court, why not small claims - and rely on BCOBS, especially 5?0 -
Have you considered asking the FOS to re-open the case and consider the actual screen shots you followed?0

The FOS website seems to say a final decision is precisely that and it draws a line under the case. Is it possible for a case to be re-opened?0 -

That is exactly what they have said. I expressed a wish to appeal and was told I could not appeal the decision, only the process. So I'm appealing that tomorrow. Much good may it do me... It may be useful in court, if the FOS have accepted that their investigation was flawed. Meanwhile, I have been reading BCOBS... and feel that words like 'fair', 'clear' and 'misleading' are open to varieties of subjective interpretation, as this long thread has proved.0
