Stung by halifax web saver reward scam. Advice?

For Pete's sake, will this thread never end? OP, you made a mistake. Accept it. Or go to court and come back in a few months and tell us the result.
I also applied for the 2.8% account. I read the instructions. I didn't ask for a cash card. I got 2.8%.
You have my sympathy. You must feel bad about losing £1000 of your mum's money through your mistake; but that's what it was, your mistake. You weren't scammed or cheated, merely careless. At least your poor old mum probably doesn't realise.
I was surprised to see that you handle your mum's affairs as she has dementia, but nevertheless you asked for a cashcard because "she liked the idea". Just another odd aspect to this shaggy dog story.0 -

Things I need help with in relation to my small claims presentation in court:
1) Confirmation that because Mum's account was with the Bank of Scotland, I should be applying to the Scottish court.
2) Confirmation of the name of the account in dispute. Do I need to know this? Halifax - or Bank of Scotland ( I don't even know who I am taking to - the Customer Service number directs me to Edinburgh) - refuse to tell me.
3) Confirmation that a small claim form will not severely prescribe what I am able to place before the court, e.g. Halifax's aberrant use of the phrase 'Giving a little extra help'.
4) DSAR file of all information held by Halifax/Bank of Scotland re my complaint, including telephone recordings. Are these useful/necessary for the small claims court?
Any advice on these or any other germane issues much appreciated.0 -

You'd normally do a small claims action with your local court or online with Salford.
You can subpoena Halifax to bring the items you need, along to the court hearing.
You'd normally write to give the CEO the opportunity to resolve the case prior to court action. Then when you get the refusal letter from CEO or his appointed person then you apply to the County Court - Small Claims track giving the name of the company (Halifax), their head office address and for the attention of the CEO or whoever he appointed to write back to your last letter.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Baffling indeed. As the Reward Saver account didn't exist until September 2011 and was never on sale at the same time as the Web Saver accounts.
Yeah I know it was clear when you signed up online, hence I chose not to have a cash card.
But overall you have to say is Halifax here to do business or are they here to be sneaky and to try and catch people out....
It's not like they are the only ones and I am aware that all the other banks are up to it, pay in £1000+ per month, have 2 direct debits, have a current account with us.
Wouldn't life be so much easier if these savings accounts did exactly what they said on the tin0 -
I love how when banks make certain information clear as crystal but someone doesn't bother to read it and loses out as a result, the reply comes back "well they should have made it clearer!!!!!"

The small claims limit, which my post was about, is £10000. The MCOL might be a better route, but I would not spend a lot of money making the claim since the chances of success are pretty low.
It might be more worthwhile getting into a financial paper or on moneybox, since as soon as a news organisation starts asking the same questions, often as not an ex gratia appears as if by magic.0 -
