I accept what you are saying, but I did acknowledge that fact in the trap KS sent me, check back.
It's getting to be a very strong GSR !!!!! in this forum, and guess what guys, no one died before it did.
Go on then, get the searches going, you can prove me wrong I know, but in perspective, it isn't the rocket science some folks would make it out to be.
And yes, I am wearing a flack jacket.
When you retire you avoid bank holidays like the plague, hence my presence.
My posts provocative? of course they are sometimes. otherwise this all gets very boring.
Keep it polite and I have now issues, the readers hear the arguments and benefit I'm sure.

Does that mean you agree with what I said? :p

:rotfl:How would you know if their dead :rotfl:its others that need the flack jacket for BS protection :(

it wasn't really aimed at anyone, but yes removing the front cover does expose part of the gas train as in the air in take needed for combustion, if you look at the top section of the boiler you will see a black rubber washer going all around the outside of the case, this is a sealing washer, the bottom half of the boiler is not part of the gas train but unfortunately you can't get at this without removing the front case, so even if the leak was in here you still need an RGI
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.

Hate to jump in here with testosterone flying but if you isolate the gas supply is it still illegal for a homeowner to remove the front cover?

Removing it isn't the problem (apart from a temptation to gerfingerpoke in areas that you shouldn't) putting it back properly so that it is correctly sealed is entirely another.

    Cheers

Edit: You should read post 17 closely.

I was just trying to get Cy to think actually but it doesn't matter really. I certainly wasn't setting a trap as he seems to think.

    Cheers.

But as far as I can see the right to work on gas without reward if you are competent still applies. That competency does not stipulate having done a GSR course or similar.

GSR's details on this are deliberately misleading.

Before anyone jumps in and says I'm encouraging clowns to work on their own gas, idiots will do it anyway. They're not going to check the law on it. OP, I don't mean you btw.

this has been covered so many times I really can't be bothered to argue the point anymore, if anyone wants to work on their own gas go ahead, it's not me or my family you are going to kill it's yours, because you are too bigheaded to admit you don't know what you are doing, for the final time you have to PROVE you are competent & how do you PROVE that if you haven't done the training & passed the exams, the only thing it proves if you THINK you are competent without the training & passing the exams is that you are a fool
