I have 2 collapsed discs in my lower spine and have been in constant pain at times, unable drive or work for 12 months a couple of years ago.
I am a staff nurse at the local general hospital and have been treated very well all options and advice have been given me, nobody truly recommended a fusion and what I've researched about the subject did put me off.
I now have facet joint injections at 6 monthly intervals and in my case they really work,
I can work etc and as long as I take care of my back the condition will not get any worse,
spinal disc replacement is another option which has had some success but whilst I remain relatively painfree I'll keep having the injections,
there is now research into growing replacement discs from human tissue and although this is some years away it may be a future option for all of us lower back pain sufferers
