    Ooooh that's an interesting read.
We're trying to figure out what keeps triggering mild anaphilaxis in poor DH.
Nothing's seemed obvious yet but I shall look extra closely at his cereal now

Yes, it shocked me when I read it, it also rang a VERY large bell as he was down almost to the dregs in the bottom. It was a case of call 999 and hope he was still here when they arrived. I was panicking to say the least as he couldn't breath, face hands swollen and red. I nearly had a heart attack watching him and trying to keep a little bit of consciousness in him.

The dangers in our stashes that we didn't realise!

The trouble is IF someone has a bad anaphylactic shock they are then at risk with other foodstuffs too - he had another bad reaction to a salad from Asda. We discovered what appeared to be RAW Edamame beans (soy beans) in the bottom of the container later. Makes you think! The only reference to it containing soy beans was on the bottom. Do you turn a salad bowl upside down and read contents before eating? Salad won't hurt you - will it? It nearly killed him!!

"For human consumption, soybeans must be cooked with "wet" heat to destroy the trypsin inhibitors (serine protease inhibitors). Raw soybeans, including the immature green form, are toxic to humans, swine, chickens, and in fact, all monogastric animals"

I had HSBC ring me a while back because I'd put in a balance transfer on my brand new credit card and they were ringing to confirm it was me.
Usually when HSBC have rung me they give me the first half my postcode and ask for the second half and ask for bits of info but this person wanted my full DOB and that was about as far as he got because I refused to give it as he'd rung me. I told him to tell me my account number and he wouldn't for 'data protection reasons' (DH knows the data protection act inside out and we knew this was twaddle) so he said they would write to me.
Needless to say I rang HSBC back after I'd got off the phone and they eventually worked out the call WAS genuine :o but unfortunately the India call centre use different security criteria.
I told them it was very poor customer service :D and the balance transfer was eventually processed about a week later than it should have been.
I still stand by what I said though and the bank rep I spoke to when i rang back said I was being sensible :) and they would make a note to look into security for the Indian call centre (I don't for one second believe they ever did :( )
It is shocking.. especially when they ring you. Well done for not giving info out, even if they were genuine.
I changed my passcode with Vodafone back in March so the only other person who knew my passcode was the Vodafone operator in India.... The fraud team told me that the only way someone could take out another phone in my name is if they had my passcode. No need to call me Sherlock Mr Vodafone ;)

Gosh, what a shock that must have been for both of you.

I love edemame beans, didn't know they had to be cooked though. I just thought they were a bit like pea pods etc and best/tastiest eaten raw :o

What exactly is he allergic too? (I know you said just right cereal)
I hate it whenever DHs face swells up, I keep thinking I'll wake up one morning and he won't because his throat closes up too :(
It's so scary, DH finally has tests booked for November which can't come around quick enough. (Our doctors have been worse than useless with this, Hubby is putting in a complaint against them!)
    Historic Debt August 2009 = £63,600 10th March 2017 = £0 100% paid all gone!

Ha ha, yes as long as you buy in A to compare to S. I had two varieties on mine (pepperoni and chicken arrabiata) but some only had the pepperoni.

I've had the same with Nationwide - they asked a LOAD of questions DOB, full address etc. which I refused to answer. They then GAVE ME A TEL NUMBER to call them back on - as if I'd be so stupid to call them back on THAT number! When I rang Nationwide on a number that I'd looked up they couldn't see why I thought it was a problem???

It was a genuine call & they'd stopped a payment on my credit card as I'd made 2 or 3 small transactions to that company in same day - believe it was a body shop glitch! lol Apparently it's what people who have stolen cards or cloned them do initially.
