police parking on double yellow lines

i do put myself on the line everyday as i am a fireman, but that would not get me a free parking space outside the supermarket on double yellow lines so i can pop in to do my shopping
so i will have 2 sugars in my tea

i think you will find you so called fire and rescue workers do exactually the same as the police van, i have seen it soooooo many times in Guildford and Portsmouth, they are either out shopping of perving at the hunnys:p
and us yes we have to wait out on the roadside for cover , you know waiting for an accident0 -
It really depends on what other parking there was in the area. If it was only reverse parking into tight spaces or car parks, which would take much longer for a police car to get out of if they got an emergency call, then I don't mind them parking on double yellow.
Also, shops tend to like police parking outside because it gives off that "police presence" atmosphere which we tend to lack nowadays due to police being replaced with cctv, and having your local copper pop in can be a shoplifting deterant.
ps - sharpiei31, i'm sure you could park your fire engine on the double yellow if the shop was on fire!! Great career!! i would love to be a fire(wo)man, although think i would fail the medical ;-(
pps - dangeroussports, they call you a troll because most your posts are actually slagging people off, critisizing people, or calling someone a liar, which is nothing to do with what people are "venting" about! Maybe give us your opinion on the topic rather trying to psycho-analyse each poster!!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
This thread is actually quite funny tbh because imo, parking on double yellow lines is nothing compared to what some get up to:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0

Im not slagging anyone off, critisize yes, and calling someone a liar - if I think they are then yes - I will call anyone a liar.

any chance you could find a single thread on the vent forum that you don't find pathetic?! as far as i can tell everything annoys you so maybe this isn't the board to spend so much time on?:happyhear0 -
If the Police officer was there on business ie picking up a shoplifter or something, then it is acceptable to park outside the shop on lines (villain goes straight to the waiting car and so doesn't have to be dragged across a crowded car park).
If he just nipped in to pick up his shopping then it is a no no. If there were no spaces then he should have driven out and come back later.
As a Military Police officer i am not above the law and should be setting an example, not flouting the law.
There is nothing wrong with nipping in to pick up a few things, police, when they get a few minutes break, are human like the rest of us and enjoy a cold drink, sandwich and a read of the paper too!!0 -

dangeroussports wrote: »According to pretend fireman sam its very important. Hasnt contributed at all and yet the first thing it/he/she posts is a slagging to the police for parking on double yellows to get their lunch!
Then theres the peabrain who thinks the police/army/mod are flaunting it!
Honestly.....pathetic
It's well know that fire fighters don't like police officers cos they open windows and cause back draft, or at least they used to and police officers hate fire fighters.
To be perfectly honest if you did complain all you would achieve is 'we shall have a word' I know a police officer an extremely good one who i should imagine in what he does has put his life on the line many a time to more than likely save someone like you or me.
Cut the guy some slack0 -
Maybe we should all think of the police officer today who lost his life and left a wife and young baby behind.
