Help to uninstall Calibre

I installed Calibre on a new computer but botched up in adding my library. No matter how I try to uninstall, when I reinstall it still finds my email address and the library I don't want in. Please can someone help to go get rid of it totally so that I can start over. There must be some data retained that I am not removing.
I am using, or rather trying to use. Windows 8. Boy, what a learning curve - but that's another story!

I would imagine that that is stored in C:\Users\Clairabella\App Data\Roaming\Calibre ... just rename that folder to CalibreOLD or some such (just in case you have probs)
I will check later when I can reload Windows

Seems I guessed sort of ok, I just fired up my W8.1 VM and installed calibre abd it creates its stuff in C:\Users\Yourname\AppData\Roaming\calibre so follow the instructions in my last post and let me know if it doesn't work.4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Exactly what did you botch up?
The Calibre libraries are saved in whatever location you specify when running the wizard the first time you use Calibre. Can't remember where the default location is, possibly c:\users\yourname\calibre libraries.
You can check the path from within Calibre by clicking on the Calibre icon on the toolbar (and also move an existing library to a new location, create a new one, etc)
The configuration folder is saved in the location as per debitcardmayhem's post. Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0 -

Don't ask! I have no idea what I did, I haven't a clue what I'm doing with computers, I now have the majority of my books back on - thanks to debitmayhem. Initially only 45 books were showing so I restored the database. I then got this message
"Failed to restore the books in the following folders:
C:\Users\User\Documents\Calibre Library 2013\Patricia Cornwell\Blow Fly (3) with error:
Traceback (most recent call last):

File "site-packages\calibre\library\sqlite.py", line 314, in run

for a load of books but, I guess that I'm happy with at least restoring the majority.
Thanks for the help both of you, I really appreciate it.0 -
Possibly something corrupted. I've never had problems with Calibre but you could run an integrity check by clicking on the little arrow on the right of the Calibre icon on the toolbar, select Library Maintenance on the drop down menu and then Check Library. Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0

OK, there are a heap of problems. I had the option to 'copy to clipboard'
>Invalid titles
>Extra titles
>Invalid authors
>Extra authors
>Unknown files in books
There was the option to 'fix marked' but it never became bold so does this mean that they are unfixable?0 -
Shameless copy & paste from Calibre:calibre stores the list of your books and their metadata in a database. The actual book files and covers are stored as normal files in the calibre library folder. The database contains a list of the files and covers belonging to each book entry. This tool checks that the actual files in the library folder on your computer match the information in the database.
The result of each type of check is shown to the left. The various checks are:- Invalid titles: These are files and folders appearing in the library where books titles should, but that do not have the correct form to be a book title.
- Extra titles: These are extra files in your Calibre library that appear to be correctly-formed titles, but have no corresponding entries in the database
- Invalid authors: These are files appearing in the library where only author folders should be.
- Extra authors: These are folders in the Calibre library that appear to be authors but that do not have entries in the database
- Missing book formats: These are book formats that are in the database but have no corresponding format file in the book's folder.
- Extra book formats: These are book format files found in the book's folder but not in the database.
- Unknown files in books: These are extra files in the folder of each book that do not correspond to a known format or cover file.
- Missing cover files: These represent books that are marked in the database as having covers but the actual cover files are missing.
- Cover files not in database: These are books that have cover files but are marked as not having covers in the database.
- Folder raising exception: These represent folders in the Calibre library that could not be processed/understood by this tool.
Delete marked is used to remove extra files/folders/covers that have no entries in the database. Check the box next to the item you want to delete. Use with caution.
Fix marked is applicable only to covers and missing formats (the three lines marked 'fixable'). In the case of missing cover files, checking the fixable box and pushing this button will tell calibre that there is no cover for all of the books listed. Use this option if you are not going to restore the covers from a backup. In the case of extra cover files, checking the fixable box and pushing this button will tell Calibre that the cover files it found are correct for all the books listed. Use this when you are not going to delete the file(s). In the case of missing formats, checking the fixable box and pushing this button will tell calibre that the formats are really gone. Use this if you are not going to restore the formats from a backup.
Assuming you have a back up of the problem books somewhere or can re-download them, I would just tick Delete Marked everything that's causing an issue, and then add those books again.
But not having had any problems with Calibre in 3 years, I have no idea whether this would solve everything or not.
Or you could head to Mobile Read forum and post on there - there's a whole section dedicated to Calibre http://www.mobileread.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=166Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0 -
I did read that but, to be honest, it is beyond me.
I think that I shall have to be happy with the books that I already have.
Thanks so much for your help.0 -
Basically there's stuff in your libraries folder that the database doesn't know what to do withNow free from the incompetence of vodafail0
