Natwest "Z Marker" Internal marker

There could be any number of reasons for someone in NW to have put this Z Marker on your account.
Apart from the dodgy credit file or previous account conduct mentioned already, another reason may be if you've been using the account for online gambling.0 -
Thanks. Never used the account for that. I will keep chipping away at natwest, I would be really interested to hear if anyone else has had a similar problem as I also think it maybe a mistake as my account has previous been very good, cannot think of why I would get a marker0

Thier will be a good reason as far the bank is concerned.
Just get your Equifax and Experian report then appeal.
Plus their is only one department that can apply and remove them.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
Thanks. What's a thin file? In regards to CLU can I speak to them directly? So, do you think the best way forward is to get my credit reports and take them to the branch? If that fails, what do you then recommend as I really want to resolve it??0

No you can not speak to them directly in this particular section of PLU.
Just take your credit files to a branch they will pass it on for a review.
The bank have obligation to lend or open an account to anyone so their would not be more you could do.
Did you have any lending on your old account. When you say standard current account was it a step account?
Thin files is when their is not a lot of information on your credit report.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
Thanks. I previously had a current account with overdraft and had credit cards with RBS and natwest. Account was an advantage gold account. I was actually even refused a step account which I found astonishing..
Do you mean they have no obligation to open an account? I guess I just want to get to the bottom of what this marker this and how can I remove it? Thanks0 -

Was it all repaid your previous lending?
Do you or have you lived with someone with the same of similar name as yourself?Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
Yep. Not one late payment or anything hence why I don't understand the marker, only thing I can think is maybe because I have opened and closed natwest accounts previously.. Don't know0

I live with my wife who actually has a natwest account.. Could it be linked to an old student address or rented accomendation before we moved to our house?0

Could just be they've put somebody else's Z marker on your account by mistake. They won't have any system for checking these things to make sure they get them right. Why should they care?"It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis0
