Diary of a home owner wannabe (my 6 year journey)

I'm having a day off today - a very rare occurance. I'm going to London to spend the £100 Harrods voucher that our last landlady gave us for Christmas last year. It's only valid for one year so I want to make sure that it doesn't run out. I'm going to see if I can pick up a couple of christmas presents with it - although as it's so expensive in there I'm not expecting to get a lot  I also need to pop to the shop I want to get DH's suit from as it's out of stock on line so I hope they may have it in the shop.
£36.88 spent yesterday on padlock, draft excluder and some bits from Mr T most of which will be carried over to next month. £18.83 earned from my bank account this month. Just need to get my cc statement to see what cashback I have earned from them. Will be able to report tomorrow on my savings for this month and update my signature :j
Have a good one - TGIF :rotfl:

Food hall was great though I did avoid it as much as possible Iquit otherwise my gift voucher wouldn't have lasted long
You did make me giggle edinburgher - actually she was lovely although we were very accommodating when things went wrong we never hassled her - but yes I suspect she did make a fortune out of us as our rent was £3000 a month

Had a great day yesterday although trapsing down Oxford Street through the throngs of people was not pleasant
Managed to pick up 3 pressies in Harrods plus a free gift at Clinique - £1.25 left on the card but couldnt find anything for just that amount! Going to Harrods is a bit like going to a theme park - the things that they sell are amazing, though certainly way out of my price range  Also managed to get Dh's suit and another of DDs xmas pressies
Had a lovely time after with DH who was in London for a conference. We ended up having a few glasses of wine in a little bar near to Belgrave square and ended up sitting next to Terry Venables (DH had to point out who he was). I love London - the diversity, the culture, the hussle and bussle and going in yesterday has made me even more determined to get my money saved, a real refocuser. Though I don't think we'll be anywhere near mayfair, the prices are just astronomical
Updated my signature as it's the end of my financial month today and I'm not expecting anything more to come out of my accounts. Up £1,116 from last month so really pleased with that as I wasn't expecting to manage anywhere near that. I am so close to reaching my first £100,000 in savings, £1,175 to save next month and then I'm there -its going to be tight as I have a whopping cc bill due to the spends made in Mr T for my annual purchases.I'm going to have to be extremely careful and rummage around the freezer to keep my food costs down. I love the beginning of a month - its like starting a new challenge and keeps me focused.
No list for me today - kids away weekend so me and DH are having a slobbing weekend (he's sitting watching tv in his superman onesie :rotfl:). I have some washing and ironing to do (duvet weekend) a bit of cleaning and my monthly menu to plan.
Happy days

Your day out sounded lovely PFTP (although I never like the London crowds when we lived there).
Houses are literally another world down there. I remember overhearing a posh young girl in Kensington remark to her Dad that a flat was a million pounds, to which he replied 'yes, that is good value for money'! :rotfl:0 -

Too true edinburgher - I lived in London for many years until the kids got to school age and we decided to move out. My DSS1 has lived there for two years now and can barely afford to rent a shared house let alone buy something. Its a real shame for the young and low paid particularly as rental is so expensive there too.

Lazy day on the sofa - definitely a NSD :j

Lazing on the sofa whilst the rain is pouring down outside. DH is making a cake and I'm watching a film and reading some diaries. The kids start a two week half term so I'm rexing before the onslaught of 'I'm hungry I'm bored can I have a friend over and can you give me a lift/some money'
NSD so far for me and as I aim not to leave the sofa I'm hoping for it to remain that way:)
my monthly :money: MS savings:
£14.88 Amex cashback
£42.57 interest earned on bank accounts
£13.00 Mr T coupons
£5.72 Spanish bank c/c cashback on petrol
£100.00 Harrods giftcard used for xmas pressies
£176.17 TOTAL
Fairly average additional savings for the month. Need to step my game up next month.

Hi Penny
I read the whole of your diary earlier on today, you're doing so well but whoo was I tiredjust reading all your to do lists in the run up to you moving so extra well dones for all you achieved
Enjoy lazy day, doing fairly similar at the mo but convincing myself I'm being productive as doing paperwork and catching up on some TV while I'm doing it, not too mention loitering on here for a long overdue catch-up on diaries
Hoping for a bit of energy to appear shortly as going to venture into the kitchen to attempt a couple of new recipes
Regards
