  • Whoop Whoop -deposit from the old house arrived in my bank account this morning which means I get to allocate the additional £460 to some of my moving costs :j

Missing DH at the moment, I don't like it when he is away but it does mean that I can spend today doing a stock take of all the store cupboard basics without him getting in the way.

My TO DO List is fairly simple today:
    • washing
    • MR T
    • cook dinner
    • stock take
    • price comparison

    fairly small for me today.

For some reason I have pressed on a random button on my keyboard which has made this site go really small and no matter what I do I can't get it any bigger - which means I can barely see what I'm typing - any suggestions would be appreciated :o

Morning, I'm computer illiterate so sorry can't help! Have a good day.
    2019 MFW No. 74 £13700/£30000 (45.66%)
    12k in 2018 No. 98 £6274.19/£18000 (34.85%)

    Residential (start) £275000.00 (current) £268000.00
  • phew - I think I have broken the back of my store cupboard yearly stock up. I have done all the price comparisons and also checked the price history to see where the current price levels are compared to the year. It's been very time consuming but I think I will have saved several hundred pounds by doing it this way. I have had to guestimate usage of things over the year but I'm pretty keyed up on that. I was so shocked at how much I spend on small things when you look at the annual cost of things - £100 a year on cereal bars for the kids to take to school (and that's when they're half price), £215 on ground coffee (damn sight cheaper than costa I suppose) - its scary how much is spent on non food stuff. So I have stocked up on toiletries, cleaning products, tins, dry food and condiments but only bought when things are on offer or basics don't get reduced (mainly value stuff) DH is going to have a shock when he opens the cupboards

Fairly hefty spends today relating mainly to the stock up but also to DD's social life!

    SPENDS TODAY:
    £168 Mr T & A$da
    £16school lunches for DSS2
£47 for DDs bday parties and discos that she going to this week
£42xmas pressies for DD - she gave me a list of things that were currently on sale
£13 on bits and pieces in Boots

which brings a total of around £286 - hefty but a lot of money saved though.

    MONEY IN/SAVED;
£460left over from deposit repayment which has gone towards the cost of moving.

So all in all not a bad day. Still have another days worth to do but it will be worth it in the long run :)

Off to cook dinner and use up the runner beans that my neighbour gave me

Fixed yet? If you're using Internet Explorer, left click 'View' and then set zoom to 100%. Alternatively, if you're using a mouse with a scroll wheel, you can hold down 'Ctrl', then scroll up to increase the zoom.

Lidl's best value coffee for general coffee machine use costs c. £3 for half a kilo and is pleasant stuff. It's the cheapest I have found, my only qualm with it is the fact that it's not Fairtrade and I sometimes feel a bit guilty. It's the one that comes as a big gold block :) We go through one of these every 10 days or so with one pot a day.

Thanks Edinburgher :A - I know in theory that what you are saying will fix it - in practice though, I appear to be hopeless :( I have a built in flat mouse thingy on my lap top have pressed ctrl and scrolled away but to no avail - will keep trying - in the mean time I will have to squint to read anything

Great - we get through about 10 cups a day between us! Will get some next time I Lidl it :)

Hi PFTP, just popped in to say hope you're settled in your new house. I am sure having completed all on your lists that it is now becoming a home.

I can't help wondering if your teenagers eat you out of house and home; one of the first things I tend to get asked when they get home from school is "what's for tea..??". All I know is that I'm forever topping up the biscuit tin. I now refuse to buy expensive bickies as they are consumed with one mouthful, and they don't seem to notice.

Hope you are enjoying some ME time, and looking forward to the return of your DH. IF not then you can live in hope!!!:j

Hi Arkers, thanks for popping by. You are so right about teenagers - I have 3 with hollow legs :eek:Mr T value biscuits hit the spot as far as I am concerned and a limit on 3 packets a week (although if I'm honest with you I am the main culprit for biscuits as I can easily munch my way through a packet with a cuppa in the evenings and often do :o). I also find that it helps if I hide stuff in filing cabinets and wardrobes :) I must admit though apart from biscuits I don't buy snacky other than fruit - if they want something they can go down to Mr T and buy it themselves ;)

We are all settled thanks for asking and yes I'm looking forward to DH coming home - it feels very quiet without him, especially as he works from home too, but I'm not looking forward to the 11.30pm pick up from the airport tomorrow

Well edinburgher all I can say is that if the apocalypse did happen then my house and my children would remain the cleanest and smell the nicest as I now have a years supply of cleaning products and toiletries :rotfl:
A good question though - I have no idea why I feel the need to stock up for a year although some people close to me may suggest - dysfunctional, obsessive, anal, I prefer fastidious, organised and focused :rotfl: (the delivery guy today was a little concerned that he was delivering to a house where halitosis was rife due to the 30 bottles of mouth wash he delivered :D

I suppose I like a bargain as much as anything and if I can get a bargain x 12 then that's worth buying a year's supply in my head :D

Off to find somewhere to put the 30 cartons of apple juice (and that is only 1 month's supply
