Work from Home challege.

We get no end of threads asking 'how can I work from home' but most are looking for a full time income over night and it just isn't going to happen
For the fair few who have got a second income/run a business from home they always say it took them a while a few years to really turn it into something worth while
Now, I have just started my 2nd mat leave and am wondering how I am going to manage with childcare with 2 kids under school age and going back to work... the short answar is its better for me to stay at home..but I am no SAHM by far and would rather be working.
So I have 9-12 months to try and subsitute an income so I am not living off benifits or paying out £60-£70 a day on childcare on a £30-35 a day job
Anyone is welcome to join me, give yourself a time frame, list what/if you are already achieving and how you plan on upping it....how ever you want really I have never set up a challege before but even if its just me then I'm not to fussed.
EDIT: DUE TO INACTIVE THREAD I HAVE DELETED THIS LIST, YOU ARE FREE TO SIGN UP AGAIN (Page 3 was last post on this edit)
Income goal for the year: 20/08/13 - 20/08/14
Kayalana: £50/£500 p/m
Craig210189: £-/£50-100 p/m
What I am doing:
Blog - In progess
Ebay (£50 p/m steady to date)
Learning to design websites (Hoping this will be main source of income)
Edit: Only focusing on my Ebay for now as I have started a small business.

Great challenge! I've been thinking and looking at ways of substituting mine & my partners current income, and although we've started a couple of websites, unfortunately lack of time gets the better of us and we don't manage to get anywhere! Determined to do this now though, so will join you in the challenge!
Income goal for the year: 20/08/13 - 20/08/14
£50-£100 p/m
What I am doing:
Buying & selling household items (been great so far and has paid for a holiday for us, but this is starting to fizzle out!)
Beauty blog (partner's side of things - started to get traffic but at present not been updated for a while and no adverts to create revenue)
Travel/Holiday blog/article site - same as above!
Good luck0 -
Nice going always interesting to hear what others are up to. My one thing is online product creation in internet marketing - and it is really enjoyable and there is lots to learn and keep me busy. I have learnt a ton of stuff in the last 8 Months and am on my way to creating my first online product(s). I can set up Wordpress sites, HTML sites, learnt how to research online products and markets, create video training, sales letters videos, socila media marketing and all that jazz, no income yet as not launched product but hope to be doing so in a month or so.
Some other small blog projects I done last year have quite a few followers and email lists but I don't concentrate too much on these just now.0 -
I have a similar aim Kayalana.
Baby due in January and I don't really want to go back to work. 4 months to get my ideas together, a couple of months off with the little one then 6 to get something off the ground. Got a couple of ideas floating around but need to decide and focus on one.0 -
Thats my problem focusing on one thing...I have a blog idea but I tend to think to big as well then get put off -.-
I have set it up but not started writing yet as I have been unable to decide how to 'lay it out' :-)People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
Love this idea, I have just gone to part time to spend more time with my little boy and would love to reduce my hours further but need to make up the difference in pay.
Would love to see what other ideas people have? How much money can be made from blogging?0 -
Hello Kayalana99
I think your idea is a great one and would love to join you if that's alright.
I have always loved to craft especially sewing and i used to sew for different people years ago ( i even got paid for doing something i enjoyed ):D.
Something along these lines would be ideal for me. Selling online or at craft fairs.
I'm going to give this some thought and go through all the stuff i have in the spare room.
Would like to make £30+ per month.
Looking forward to hearing back from you and here's to a great new challenge.

I think blogging is all what you make it...some can have one blog bringing in pitance and others can have muti websites with advertising bringing in £100's..
That sounds lovely Cornish, could I suggest trying to sell on facebook groups as well? I have noticed alot more people successfully selling things like hand made jewerally and knitted items for babies on theirPeople don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
I'd love to join you in this challenge if that's okay.
I've been freelancing in my spare time for the last three years, but mostly dabbling. I'd really like to change my job for a freelance admin career but am in the process of buying my first home on my own, so for the time being I've got to stick where I am for security.
You've helped me make the decision to start investing properly in my freelance work and so in this year I shall aim to bring in £100 per month from freelancing. We'll see where next year takes us, lol.
Best of luck to everyone!

I really want some work which can be done from home. Actually I am suffering with back problem and I am getting treatment for that. Thus the Dr. suggest me to take rest for some time. But I want to use that time through working from home.0
