Every so often - more as I get older - I like to look back to see where I have come from and to re-align where I want to be. Interestingly, my focus has not changed. I still want to be mortgage free. What I haven't achieved was success in the time frame I set myself. I note I had just recently become 48yrs old when I began my journey. Here I am at 55 and still walking the long walk. But I think I would like to make this happen by my 58th birthday. Which would mean I would be doing this for 10 year if successful.
A lot has happened so far and in another 3 years, a lot more can happen. But I can look back and count my blessings at all the things I have achieved. What I have gained along the way. Yes, I will be 10 years older, but I am richer in ways that cannot be measured. I have paid back and borrowed at least three times along the way, and I am still within spitting distance of the finish line. If I manage this in the next 3 years, then it will have been a great rollercoaster ride.
Right. 3 years to go! August 2023, here I come! What I do not give, you must never take by force.

Thanks for that Savings. We have to remember that we are giving people work if they want it, and that is so important nowadays.
Managed to pay another £13 into my laptop loan today from Prolific. Only £30 to go. One Poll a bit slow, at £8.00 of £25. I think Yougov may come up with my £50 before I get to the £25 from One Poll. Either way, I have high hopes of this being the month. If not, definitely next month.
Just got a reminder through to buy pet insurance. Something that was not actively budgeted for. So many things jump up to bite you at this time of year. Anyway, I will have a shop around. What I do not give, you must never take by force.

Right. Another money shuffle has been taking place this weekend.
I have just paid my visa card off and will be 0.37p in credit. I am assuming that because it was paid before the payment date, there will be no charge next month? Oh well, I will find out soon enough, but as of right now, I believe I have no visa debt.
I just filled the car with diesel, so I should be ok for a week or so.
I have money in the account to pay the cat insurance when it is due next month, which is good.
I have money in the account to pay the cleaner - she is coming fortnightly.
I have money in the account for the electrical survey as required under this new legislation.
I have money to make another payment into the holiday account next month.
I have money to meet my car loan.
I have money to make a small overpayment on the mortgage this month.
I have been shopping and hopefully shouldn't need to buy anything until at least Saturday.
I actually used cash and have saved a £2 and 3 x 50p coins.
I only have to make another £30 on my surveys to pay off the laptop interest free loan.
Still a long way to go on the mortgage.
Still a long way to go on the car loan.
But I think I am doing ok.

Thank you South_coast. This is not easy, but I feel I am in a good place for a short period. I am not one of the lucky ones and things tend to go pear shaped for me quite quickly. But, I hope that with my Top Cashback, Nectar Points and Shop & Scan, I should have a reasonable Christmas and again, not need to dip into credit. All I have to really concern myself with is looking to find work in the New Year. And I will worry about that in the New Year. I want to get to January with no other debt, with the mortgage reducing at a reasonable speed and the car payments being made with little bits extra thrown in for good luck. I can only hope. What I do not give, you must never take by force.

It's really does sound like you are in a good place hope that feeling lasts. Glad you got a cleaner should make a big difference use that energy one something else you really enjoy. Good luck with the job hunting I know what it's like. New Year should be an ok time to look if we're still in the same sector a lot of funding will come to an end in March so best to get in before then. Well that's what I'm hoping for. Take care.
