Hope you manage to get a new job. Will you get any redundancy pay if you stay to the end? Hope you also find a way of creating some positives in your life for you too. Camper van sounds fab. DH would like one, I'm not so keen I like my creature comforts too much.

Thanks for the kind thoughts and words everyone. All is as good as it can be right now. The MSE side of life is completely off the table. I have lost my mojo on this and so am looking to try and enjoy life a bit more until I am in the right head space.

The camper van is wonderful. Going on another trip to the coast this weekend. To be honest, I don't notice the sea, I am happiest just being away, with no concerns about anything. Just a chance to sleep and eat and get up late and do nothing.

Work is ok but definitely not my bag, so not trying to fight to stay. I keep looking for alternatives, but nothing really calls me - because I don't want to work! Oh well, I need to have something by the end of December because i wont have a job in January. I need to pull my finger out!

On the plus side, I have made an effort with my activities to ensure my mindset and well-being are fed and healthy, so I look forward to the weekends. Things planned in for April next year. If only I could rekindle my joy for work...

  • Hi Tahlullah :)

You may have noticed i'm focusing on self-care a bit at the mo so mindset and well being are also my aims.

I too am looking for work. I am in a job at the moment but the hours aren't great and likely to reduce more. I have an income which is less than ideal and very likely to reduce significantly soon - this is what all the indicators are. I do not love the work and i am struggling to find something else.

Lets hope for good things for us both.

I love the freedom your camper van gives you - i'd love one :smileyhea but Mr Socks isn't keen - in another life i had the chance to get one and so wanted to get out in the big wide world in it but Mr Socks wasn't agreeable to the idea. I would notice the sea though - i'd definitely need a cold swim in it :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

HI Tahlullah - Have you worked out what you need to earn? Have you looked at different ways of getting that money besides a day job? What is it about work / working you find so demotivating? What is it that brings you joy? I once made a list of everything I wanted in my new job including its ideal location. I was prepared to do something different and come down in money. I wrote it all down and came home - did a job search and by midnight had found a job to apply for. 3 weeks later I was in the role. It can happen...

Thanks for the kind thoughts and words everyone. Really appreciated.

At the moment, my job mojo is so far off track, I can't be bothered to search for alternative work. So, my plan of action is to do nothing and when I am made unemployed, I will just go to an agency. There is always agency work and I am positive that will focus my mind!

Anyway, I have been re-looking at my mortgage repayments. I am so woefully out of kilter, I should be ashamed. Anyway, as of right this moment, I owe £77k. So, yes, I am behind on my world domination plan, but I feel that if I get my act together, I can sort myself out to get back into the habit of paying the mortgage down. Not sure if I shouldn't just wait until the New Year to start again in earnest. Anyway, I will wait and see.

The holiday - ok, my weekend - in the camper was great. I really do enjoy just packing up and going off for a weekend. It really is great. Hopefully, I will do more of it next year, just taking off and not worrying about having to pay for a hotel etc.

Anyway, nearly the end of the month, so new month, new me!!

  • Hi Tahlullah

My opinion - Start now with the mortgage re-focus :) any payment made is an amount you'll never pay interest on again :T but of course, that is if you can do this with the current job situation.

I'm glad you had a good time in the camper :T

& i hope we both find something soon - i just spent 4 hours applying for a job that i can't attend the interview for :( Because they're only interviewing on 1 day and it is a day i definitely can't make. Was only for a temporary contract but still...

Anyway i was glad to pop in and see you'd posted and also glad to hear of campervan adventures :)

Sorry to hear about the job application. Its a bit like funding applications. You have to consider the amount of time it will take to complete the application, balanced against the amount you would get if you won the bid. Sometimes, they don't balance out, so best not apply. This was definitely one of those times.

I am going to get going on the mortgage as you say, because the more I pay now, the less I have to pay in the future. So, made a payment and as at the end of the month, I will owe £73k. All very positive and will look to see if I can make payments each month.

Its this or, win the lottery. And I always begrudge the money I spend on buying a lottery ticket. I always think of what I could buy in the value range with the money. I am so sad!
