New month!! Started by reconciling my YNAB account, so now all match my bank. Surprisingly, it gives me a bit more money than I thought. I should really start again, but it's a real faff and a quick reconciliation does the same thing in half the time. So, new month, new regime.

Nearly time to make the first mortgage payment. Should be good.
Actually sold something on ebay! Fantastic.
Need to put in my travel expenses claim for work. A bit more money in that I don't have to find for something else.

Looking to do a PPI application as well. Really should do this as now only have 1 month to go. Will focus on this on Sunday I think. Every little bit helps with reducing the mortgage!

Thanks for the encouragement TG. I will do this asap. Certainly before the deadline. I absolutely know that when I was younger, I was given the impression that I couldn't get the loan without the insurance.

A successful payout would be helpful towards repaying the mortgage.

First payment of new regime using my new fan-dangled spreadsheet. £1200 paid off the mortgage, so currently standing at £76,300. I can see that if I follow this rigidly, I may cause myself some pain, but I will watch and see. At the end of the month, I will have a look and see where I am and if I need to make adjustments. You have to try something to see if it is something you can live with or not. I will adjust the footer to reflect the here and now.

    Hello Spotty

I am fine thanks. Nothing special happening here.

Just paid another £200 into the account. Can't see me adding anything else this month, but should never say never.

Will amend the spreadsheet and the footer accordingly.

Right. Just added my final £100 for the month to the mortgage. That really will be it for now. Good result, as it now stands at £76,000. will now watch and see if I really have left myself short or not. But it is payday on the 15th, so should be ok in theory.

As a plus, I booked a short holiday in the camper van. Can't wait. Just a weekend but really looking forward to it. Have to wait until October though, when the school holidays are over. The price difference from one week to the next is startling!

Planning on taking some things to the local charity shop. Too small to ebay and nothing that anyone would wish to purchase online in my opinion. Shame, it would be good to get a bit of money but its not meant to be.

Had a meal out yesterday. went to my favourite restaurant and it was great. Not very MSE but time for celebration. It is the birthday month, so one more planned night out on Wednesday and that should be it.

Still haven't cashed in my £2 coins, so that will be an added bonus when I eventually get round to it. Have a pair of boots that I need to sell, so hopefully that will either go into the mortgage or give me spending money for the month. Will watch and see how it pans out. Need to list them first, but can't see me doing that for another couple of weeks. It takes me that long to build up the strength to list on ebay!

My excel spreadsheet is doing well. All positive on the repayment front. Definitely an amber week, considering how much I am spending, but not totally red as I am managing to find some money to overpay the mortgage. What would it be like if I made the decision to not spend any money at all for a year and just focus on the mortgage. 1 year of purgatory, but the majority of the mortgage would be gone most likely. But I am not prepared to do that, so will keep chipping away in small chunks.

    All good!
