hi Tahlullah I hope all is good with you? And that you've had a good start to the week?
wet and very grey here and i'm enjoying cat cuddlesAlthough going off for an early night once washing and cooking are all done. Full of aches and pains
Hopefully not coming down with something.
I'm trying to keep Saturday free to have a proper financial catch-up on here
I did go out with my friend - thank you for the encouragement. As usual - spending time with good people has all sorts of positive impacts and i'm letting these settle in my mind at the moment - a little under the weather to attempt more but hoping the early night will fix that1st May 2025

Hi Stripey
All is well here. Not been around much because all change in my life as usual. I realised a while back that I will never achieve mortgage freedom as I always have a reason to draw down on my mortgage, so I did. So I am back to the hilt again. So, as I get older, I realise that I need to stop the dream of mortgage freedom and embrace the fact that as long as I can afford the mortgage, I should be happy.
So, here I am. I will keep reading as being on here allows me to manage my money so that I can spend without falling into complete debt, but the number of times I have reached a point of nearly there and then spent the savings, I need to accept the truth of what I am and where I am.
I will keep reading and making comment on other peoples diaries, but unless I suddenly win the lottery, I don't think I will ever be mortgage free.
Hope all is well with you anyway. Keep up the good fight!

For the first time in a month, I have actually dared to look at where I am financially. Being MSE went to somewhere dark in a hand basket and so I decided to stop seeking nirvana.
Anyway, a day off, so I looked. Currently, the mortgage stands at £78,800. Not as bad as I thought. Could be better, but considering how bad life has been, not bad at all.
The Visa card has taken a hammering, so this needs addressing. I am £4k in debt, so have to put a plan in place to pay this down. I haven't been following YNAB either. I need to start again, but need to find the energy to re-input everything. Perhaps I should wait until after Christmas, and once I m more financially settled. Then I can see how bad it really is.
I need to find a job as I am likely to be out of work in December, so I have 3 months to tackle that one!
The plus sides, my camping holiday was great. I did absolutely nothing. It was wonderful. The only thing I did was discover the local Starbucks. I definitely prefer Costa!
I have booked a winter holiday in my campervan. Which is what I had always planned. OK, I have booked 2. The first one a tester, in Scotland for a long weekend, and then a longer one in France in the Alps. The joy of the campervan is the ability to take your own gear with you. The cost of diesel will be the teller. The cost of the Eurotunnel was cheap in my opinion. Probably more costly than the ferry but I get seasick in bad weather and on choppy seas, so the tunnel is quicker and smoother.
Anyway, I will see how this works out. Can't wait! But probably not the thing to be focused on when I am about to be without a job again. Oh well, you prioritise what is important in life and focus on that. Work is a means to an end. I work to live, not live to work.
Will look to get back on track with my paying down the mortgage and will try to pay off the visa a step at a time. I will probably follow in Stripey's shoes and set small targets to pay off each month on the visa. Thanks for the inspiration Stripey.
Right, off to job hunt!!What I do not give, you must never take by force.

Hi Tahlullah
I'm sorry to hear about the job situation and hope you find a new and better role soon.
Maybe when we have both dusted ourselves down and re-energised we can have a mini challenge on the debt repayments?
At least when you needed the funds from your mortgage you could access them - so it has been good all the focus and hard work you have put into paying this off all this time. Definitely don't beat yourself up over it - things happen and like you say, we're in this life to live :kisses3:1st May 2025

I'm so sorry about the job that's not good did you know that when you took it or is it just our sector that's just rubbish.
You've got w really small mortgage so as you said you can still manage at least. Are you looking to work in the location you moved to or will you relocate again? More posts are now working from home which does help at least. Met a guy today who commented from Coventry to Central London he pains £900 in train fares almost as much as we pay in rent and bills for the two of us. Scary.
Anyway glad you enjoyed the camping and sounds good with the winter holidays.Save £12k in 25 No 49

Hi TG. It is always me. The sector is difficult and I find that so many organisations lose sight of what they were set up in the first place. Seem more concerned about chasing the money and growing in size and status, forgetting the real purpose of helping the person stood in front of them in favour of helping the world. As such, I lose faith and interest, so I have to keep looking before I lose my soul. The organisation is solid. It is me that does not fit. But then, I will always have that problem. The easiest thing is to go back to front line, but that is an impossibility because no-one would ever give me a job at that level. Oh well, onwards and upwards. Lets see how long I last where I am before I am either sacked for insubordination or I walk out. What I do not give, you must never take by force.
