Last day of the month and the payday money shuffle has been done.  Final payment of the first quarter has been made and I currently owe £17,500.  So, very happy with this reduction from 1 January 2023 - £8,400.  Not a lot of spare money left to make payment going forward as I have really focussed on this, but according to my calculations, I need to find at least £1k before the end of the year to meet my target.  Worst case scenario is that I take the money out of the Premium Bonds, so I have some options.

Money making plans have just about stalled.  Prolific is going through one of those times when it wont allow me to participate due to IP addresses.  It will sort, it always does.  Still not selling on ebay, instead I just give stuff to the charity shop, so I am doing my bit.

Things to do in the house, but it's not warm enough to paint, so waiting for the temperature to increase before I look to decorating.  Still have to fix the staircase rail, the cupboard in the bathroom, the ensuite needs work, the bedroom I wanted to Airbnb, paint the entrance hall, the dining room, the bathroom, the kitchen now it is back together...  So much to do.  But, all of it can be focused on when the mortgage is gone and I release £1k a month.  But I will begin by clearing my current car loan and then the extra money can go into the house.

Still waiting for payments on switching bank accounts - Santander and the Co-op, so that will be an extra £325 when it arrives.  Just waiting for them to decide when to pay out.  I will pay the money into the mortgage, so chip away at the £1k I need to find.

Still waiting for this outstanding bill that was expected in November last year.  Clearly taking their time, but I have the money set aside.  I just hope it isn't astronomical.  You can budget for something, but you are never sure on what the full amount will be.

Still decluttering the house.  Feeling much better about having less stuff.

Just stay focused on the prize - 9 months to go to Celebration Day.  Focus on finding that extra £1k and then...

Santander have finally made their £200 payment for switching, so I have put this in a separate account.  I will withdraw the £200 from Nat West who paid earlier in March, and then when the £125 arrives from Co-op, I will pay £500 into the mortgage.  That will get me half way to the extra £1000 I need to find.

Sometimes, I think the only way the regular payments happen is with planning.  I just feel that without a specific plan, I fritter money away.  Such a shame, because if I think about all the money that has passed through my hands through my life, I could have paid this mortgage off twice over.

Anyway, I guess I will have pulled this current £500 together by the end of May at the latest - depending on the Co-op and then just another £500 to go.  Then the other payments are scheduled.  All positive!

Got a payment of £2.00 from Storewards.  Every little helps!
Need to watch my NSD's a bit more, shopping online is far too easy.  Wouldn't mind if I was buying things that I absolutely needed, but I'm not.

Tesco making the big change to their Clubcard is going to have a big impact.  The 3x rewards helped to get Eurotunnel tickets to France.  Now they will only be 2x, it will take much longer to collect enough of them, so holidays abroad in the camper will have to be restricted.  Why is it that change always seems to be to the detriment of the end user?

Really need to think about getting some home help again, as I cannot be bothered to do it myself, but this may have to wait whilst I pay off the mortgage.  I would feel really bad if I was preventing myself from reaching my goal because I was too lazy to do housework myself.  So, I will live in squalor for a it longer...

It's April, so I need to think about when I am going to switch off the central heating and rely purely on the open fire again.  I just don't feel its very warm at the moment but if I plan to ensure I only use one tank of fuel each year, then I need to take active steps to protect it.

I really need to buy some veg - lots of meat in the freezer, but greenery is definitely missing.  I will wait to see how long I can hold out before going to the supermarket.  At least the food shop is cheaper as the expensive stuff is in the freezer!

I find it hard to recall that a few years ago when tesco gave x4 on some things that I actually completely funded a foreign holiday.  What with the change in value after this year I will be unlikely to fund the delivery of my TV magazines.  Shopping there less too since they have taken the dates of fruit & veg after having bought some with rotten bits underneath & their f & v has never been that good anyway.  Stock rotation seems to still be a foreign country to them.  It gets tedious looking for the highest code all the time.

Yes, Tesco seems to have gone downhill somewhat.  I stopped using it as my main supermarket for food several years ago, primarily due to price than quality.  Now, I mainly use it for fuel, but even then, I shop at Costco and pay with the Tesco visa card.  The good old days when you could get a holiday on their points...  Those days will never return as I can't buy more than I already do.

    I find T too expensive.

Well done on how much you've paid off already this year. A phenomenal amount.
