With £400m I would not worry about "stashing it safe and live off interest", that is for sure!!
For crying out loud, are you planning to take it with you?? Even if I did everything I wanted and bought everything I wanted I would have enough to pass down onto next 5 generations...

I would definitely invest, properties, securities, companies...
Though I would also have cash reserves for my own use and back up.

I quite fancy the idea of buying a run down village/area and attract nice developments.. that would keep me entertained I think..

You get money and think of sex.

To be fair, only the mistress to be thought of money and the ones that jumped at the offer were the ones without any money...:rotfl::D

I'd buy a village and only rent/sell property out to MSE members as I know they'd be sensible about the purchases and would have done their research.

The local shops wouldnt make much money from this tight lot though...

In all seriousness though, have you filled this years ISA allowance?

.....in the OP defence, he didn't mention that at all. Just so we're not casting aspersions.

My comments weren't meant for the OP, but those who talked hookers and mistresses lol.

Its not just when we get money :)

Nothing wrong with thinking about sex, everyone does it.

Wondering how much sex $X will buy you, is another matter (and a bit sad lol).

I had no idea anyone would take it seriously, no one with the wealth of a small country is on MSE looking for ideas, I was just joining in the silliness, as we're the guys who replied :)

Say someone has come about in £400 million transfered in to their bank account. (please just consider this scenario on the face value)

UK banks offer only warranty of £85k each. So where to invest this safely in a way that generates good income p/a please?

The investor can operate on UK and USA market freely. ta

Give it all to "One Direction" so they never sing another note;)
In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:
