I don't remember! it was years ago! I changed names in 2010 and had been on here about two years then. I THINK I chanced upon the site when surfing and looking for good forums to chat on.
Before that I used to enjoy Netscapes chat rooms - but if anyone has been in a chat room lately..............woah - they can be scary places! even for an experienced chat roomer! and I bloody hate effbook and Twitter!0 -
I'm struggling to remember too - I think I googled something and the subject came up as a forum question in one of the replies.
Been totally hooked ever since having never been on any forum before. Got two real life friends out of it - one a total bestie - we went to each others weddings and half a dozen others I am in touch with on FB too.
I've learnt so much about situations other people go through that has really enhanced my 'real life'.
I'm another one that would have chosen a different name if I'd had any idea how much time I would spend on here

I was looking for ways to cut back after getting in debt
I've been an intermittent member of the forum but lately have found myself getting a bit hooked. I love the support of the pregnancy threads in particular but have started to view more threads regarding finances. This is the best site in my opinion for helping cut back and make money go further. To be honest Thanks to this site I have a much healthier and happier relationship with my finances too.

I first came here when Mr A proposed, and wanted to find the best value for money way to get married. Two years on, we still aren't married, but we have moved from a terraced house with neighbours from hell to a larger detached house. We call it saving our sanity, whilst saving for our marriage

I like eBaying, and sometimes used to browse the eBay forums, but never posted, as it can be a bit vicious.
Bit I got a bit bored, and looked for another eBay forum to look at, and found the MSE eBay forum.
Then I started browsing other areas of the board.
As I've worked in finance for my whole working life I realised I could answer some of the questions that were posted, so I joined up.
Even after 9 months, there's still areas of the board that I've not had time to look at yet.
I like that there's so much variety here, there's always something new to look at.Early retired - 18th December 2014

Joined initially for the credit card letter re: punitive charges, stayed to ask a question re: ex and my mortgage and that was it. Here.
