Grants for old oil boiler replacement

I recently had one of the big gas companies come around to talk to me about the Green Deal; what I dont get is that they want to help people save on their bills but if you are not on benefits you dont get any help.
The other thing that I found really fustrating was I thought if you save 50% on your gas heating then your montly payment would stay the same and pay for the boiler but this is not the case you still pay what you already do and then pay an extra amount to pay of the boiler.
This is silly as people dont have the extra money to pay for the replacement boiler otherwise they would get a loan out and save £15k ? I dont get it ?????0 -
You misunderstand. The Green Deal loan cannot exceed the savings that the proposed improvements are estimated to make. So, in theory, your bills cannot rise above what they would have before-the saving 'reduces' them to pay back the loan from the saving.
So if the avings won't finance a new boiler, then that cost has to be financed by the householder.
No boiler change will save you 50% on your heating bills! No free lunch, and no free laptop

Hello people
I have read some of the comments so far, in fact I have been looking at the information for months. I live in Scotland and I thought I had it all worked out. I qualify to have free stuff done and chose a company for assessment.
I arranged a visit, had my assessment done, been told what I qualified for and then....guess what? Nothing!? Nada. I keep contacting the company, leaving messages etc.. and getting passed from pillar to post. I have no idea what to do now. The last time I spoke to them I was passed over to a 'qualified assessor' who informed me that he does work for the Company (they employ external agents) but he has difficulty sometimes getting paid for what he does. He thinks that may be what has happened - he reckons that when external agent/assessors don't get paid, they don't bother submitting the assessment reports!!
Have I been scammed? Any idea what I should do now anybody? This has been going on for months :-(
This is the link to the Company - The Company is called Green Deal Rewarding - now that I have looked closely at their website I notice their are no links to government schemes.....0
