  • Hi everyone,

Saw the post on Facebook as well so am doing the challenge.

    So far I have saved
    Week 1-£1
    Week 2 -£2
    Week 3-£3

Also I stick coppers and 5p's in the jar so not quite sure how much I have in there but with the weekly challenge I'm up to £6.

The extra money will defo come in useful as think my car will need a lot of work in August.

Hope everyone is doing well with the challenge.

I did this challenge in 2014. Am doing it again this year. I am combining it with another challenge I saw on facebook "pennies for the day of the year" For that you put aside the number of pennies for the day of the year- 1p day 1, 2p day 2, 52p day 52, 365p day 365. (gets £667.95) This year it gets you (£671.61 as it is a leap year). The combined total is £2049.61
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.

You always need money near Christmas - so I will do this challenge but the other way around. Week one 5/1 I saved £52 - Week 2 12/1 I saved £51 and so on down to £1.

    52/1378 (1326)
    51/1378 (1275)

Funny a friend of mine is doing this one this year for a change, sounds good :)

Same started last week with the £1 52 week challenge in reverse. Two benefits that I see., (1) Maximizing compound interest and (2) starting with a amount that I can afford which reduces every week so I can stay the course. So far £52 saved.

I know the opening post says £1 but it doesn't have to be £1. It could be any amount. By way of an example it could be 10p, week 1 10p, week 2 20p, week 3 30p all the way to week 52 £5.20.
