i've been into the security section, What are all these 'trusted' certificates I have?. haven't got a clue what any of them are and not thing i've looked up. Do I need them? N have tried to delete them but haven't as yet worked that out. There's all sorts of weird stuff i've never heard of along with things like equifax and stuff I have heard of but not looked up.

Sorry to be a pest, I will go away eventually I promise.

    Thanks.

Your not a pest, as an android user im going on the basis its similar for BB phones but the trusted certificates are for websites, basically your phone wants to know if said site is secure so asks for a certificate.

Not sure what if ive written is correct or not.

Pretty much, althou it also includes any set of encryption keys, not just for websites, so it can also be things like saved passwords for things.

there is no real reason to delete them

Have monitored the use when i'm not even on the phone (asleep as work nights so don't use much during day) and it adds up to 208MB a month...without me even touching it, and after i've knocked loads off.

I'm going to have to go to O2 when I can I think as just don't get it and i'm stuck now.

    Thanks for replies..
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.

Do you have a blackberry specific sim/package?

*N.B. I have no clue with blackberry phones, but I do notice on sim packages there is usually a blackberry one specifically, so what about what is specific to blackberry, like BBM and such like, does that add on internet use when not on a specific blackberry package? Are there any other blackberry users that could confirm/deny my thoughts?

Do you text a lot, send pictures through text a lot?

There is no mobile version as yet, but turning off pictures/avatars etc could help, but I doubt that's the cause, unless you're constantly reloading and making it replace the cache (already loaded images)

Txts are unlimited and don't send many pictures at all . Its contract , so BBM will be free i would imagine but i dont use that either. I don't use twitter , or anything really. I use it as phone , to text , google stuff , and go on here, oh and have an email account but don't use that much .
    Don't think it's a BB specific account/package.

    I'ts a mystery to me .

    Thanks

Thats the Blackberry Internet services, basically it allows connection to the blackberry serivces which all data is routed through. If this isn't working, those services simply dont work at all.
This is however only on the older blackberries, and is no longer used on Blackberry 10, the Q10 and Z10.

This does mean the newer devices use more data due to the lack of compression provided by blackberry services, but it shouldn't use that much.

unless im downloading stuff, i rarely use more than 500mb on my Z10, and thats from alot of browsing as well as other apps running in the background.

Do you use services like dropbox, the box or blackberry protect? These all come on the phone by default, althou they are not usually enabled

I don't think this phone seems to have BlackBerry protect like my last did, and I don't use dropbox or box.

On my last BlackBerry I would have used half the data I seem to be using now which is what's miffing me, as Cycrow said and that was with the odd music download.

I'm going to have to go see a Guru when i'm next off work I think and have time.

    Thanks.
