If you didn't /couldn't give the reg no to the police, if it was reported by the other party then it's a bit of a guessing game to match the vehicles.

Police don't play guessing games. It would probably be dismissed as bad luck sir!

Feel a bit guilty saying it but let's hope that is the case. Although I did give the place it happened and time so maybe that would link it.

They may send a pcso to get the cctv. Same location and a rough time aren't that hard to put two and two together so no guessing needed.

    Very unlikely. Resources are stretched.

It's easier to leave the insurer to sort out.

No it's highly likely if it's reported..

The first thing that will be done is a search on the location before another incident is created.

There haven't been any pcso's made redundant yet so resources aren't stretched in that department.

You did what the law says you should. I can't recall a provision in law that says you should have given the reg no of the other vehicle.

I wouldn't worry too much. The other driver may or may not come back to you. They do have 6 years albeit unlikely to go that length.

The comeback may come from the third party obtaining CCTV (under subject access request) directly with the supermarket but you will be amazed at how many CCTV cameras are inoperative for one reason or another when needed.

At least there won't be any failed to stop/report criminal charges dropping on your doormat.

I can't speak for that area (was it even mentioned?). There haven't been any redundancies amongst warranted officers because they can't be made redundant in law....but plenty have vanished. Go figure!

Funnily enough, I am sat near to a PCSO who was made redundant so I don't know where you got that last pearl of wisdom from.

    It's called A19.;)

I'm not aware of any force culling their pcsos, where did they work?

I wouldn't tell my insurers anything at this stage.

What if op has to tell them at a later date or something and they ask why they wasn't notified sooner... Surely there's a risk of the policy being cancelled?
