Jivesinger, not what I really wanted to hear, but I think that you are absolutely correct. It looks like I'll just have to bear it until they write a language pack for versions post 22. How crazy that they haven't done this. I love FF as a browser, but as with most things (Yahoo Classic vs Yahoo New Mail, Betamax to VHS, XP to Windows 7 - or even worse, 8), things just seem to get worse with each update, rather than better. We already lost the page ranking tool in FF, which was a handy little device which would allow you to see a website's page rank at the top of your screen as soon as you clicked on the site. Alas, no more. Having no English Language Pack really takes the biscuit though!

Hmmm... Judging by the Mozilla webpage, it looks like you're right.

    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/english-gb-language-pack/?src=api

However, I have the "English (GB) Language Pack 23.0.1" installed on my Linux PC. I found the XPI file and installed that in Firefox running Windows XP, and it seems to be fine... although it doesn't change the dictionary; only the user interface.

It looks like you need to install the British dictionary from here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/british-english-dictionary-/

To be fair, I would imagine that the developer is probably a one man band and it is FREE, I hope he is on holiday and enjoying it , probably in France (since the German Pack isn't working either). Come on guys it is holiday season and you should all be albe to splel in Chinglish :D

Edited: Addendum b*oo*y FF is putting out too many new versions , rather than patches

I eventually got sick of it reverting back to American spelling, even with the British English dictionary installed and trying all the fixes mentioned in this thread. So I deleted the two US files from C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\dictionaries.

Drastic, but it worked. They come back with each update though.

Oh dear. I didn't realise just how drastic that was until I just followed your lead and did the same. Now it's underlining EVERYTHING!

Restart FF and then it will be fine... providing you have british english dictionary installed.

Sorry I should have mentioned in my above post not to do that while FF is running.

All working perfectly now I've restarted. Scared me there for a moment!

Fortunately this isn't the motoring thread.

We might have tried changing the oil while doing 70 on the motorway. :D

    @ Jivesinger

My reason for suggesting Safe mode was to swerve all the add-ons etc. :)

Mind you, these days I'm 95% Palemoon. Never had a problem.
    Move along, nothing to see.
