INOD:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Sorry Broggers but you're going to be an honorary girlie from now on :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Feeling lots better today, keeping busy helps, as do all you wonderful people.

Ali the catering was brilliant, loved it, a real proper hard days work. My friend has a great thing going there, everything was hand made, right down to the chapatti wraps that were rolled and cooked over a naked gas flame on the cooker. Once we got going we worked flat out to keep up with the never ending queue, and ended up completely selling out of everything 2 hours before the end. My friend gave up a really good job to set up this business, and the job satisfaction must be immense.
The icing on the cake was that she paid me £75, I was a bit embarrassed at first, as I hadn't expected to be paid, I was just helping out, but she insisted I took it, and at the end of the day it was for a fair days work. So a profitable day :T
I also sold a top on fleabay tonight, £3.50. I need to sell my old satnav, and also my bike seat, which was really expensive to buy, but I never found it very comfortable so I'm going to put the old one back on and flog the other on.

Took DD shopping today for some bikinis for her summer fun, took a quick run round £1land too as I needed some more hair dye. They had some really funky reading specs in for £1 (doh!) what a bargain, so I grabbed a couple of pairs. I used to get prescription glasses, but after a chat with the optician last time I was in, she said as I only need them for reading I can just buy the cheap ones, more savings :)

Tired tonight though, I feel like I need another day off to recover from the weekend.

Wishing you all a lovely frugal week filled with good times xx

  • It sounds like both of you had fun with the catering! She must have made a bit selling out of all things!

Is it something you would help her out with again? Did you enjoy it that much?

Yes I did, although it was hard work and after 10 hours I was happy to go home! If she did it every day she'd make a fortune! But at the moment she doesn't have something every week so is building the business up. She's building up a group of willing paid helpers, so yes I will will get to do a couple more dates :T

Is it only Tuesday? It really feels like Wednesday evening....

I have tomorrow off to take DS to his interview at college and then meeting a friend for lunch. She's picked where and she says they do nice sandwiches so hopefully not expensive.

It's 10 days til payday, I've got £134 left, but will need at least 1 more tank of fuel, lunch tomorrow and I'm going out on Friday night (a belated celebration of our cycling awesomeness!!)

DD goes to greece a week tomorrow, she's flogging clothes on ebay to try and get some more moey together. I've said that instead of giving her money to go with (it'll just get spent on booze) I will pay for her flight home when ever she wants to come, so she doesn't have to worry about that and knows she can get home when she wants.

I've given ex/tenant notice on house (I might have said that before) anyway he's been to the council and they've told him not to move out when I ask, but to wait until I evict him, then he will be officially homeless :mad::mad::mad: which sounds like I'll have to take him to court, gosh I hope it doesn't come to all that, what a pain. :(

What a fab time with the catering and a nice little earner of a bonus there, great stuff :T

My optician says the same with reading glasses - just basic +1.00s and the £land ones sound good.

What a pain with your ex, but seems to be standard council and charity (such as Shelter) advice so as to have the necessary 'homeless' tag - pretty much you have to turn up at your house on the day of eviction, he phones the council and then probably will get told to go to the council offices by close of play same day. All a bit stressful for everyone I imagine :(

Yay to your day off tomorrow - good luck to DS and a lovely lunch. :)

As Ali says - this is standard advice now. I work very closely with the Homeless Team at my Local Authority.

Has he spoken to anyone about priority need or anything because unless your ex has a priority need then he could be homeless with no where to go.
Priority need includes some disabilities/illnesses, having children or being pregnant or being elderly.

In my area people usually approach the local authority when they have their notice, they get an interview with a Housing Options Officer who surprisingly talks through their Options!!
They are advised to remain in the property until the landlord has instructed bailiffs but in the mean time they are encouraged to look for other private rented and to join the housing register.

Prior to the eviction date they would get another meeting (there may have been phone calls in between) and they will be told whether or not they can go into the homeless hostel and whether they are priority need. Once people go in to a hostel the Officer will look at whether they are intentionally homeless - if they are they are served with a letter and they have to leave the hostel within 28 days, if they are not they get to stay in there until they have been rehoused - people in homeless hostels get more priority on the housing waiting list.

If you want any more advice or help just PM me.
