I just quoted £10000 for 15 windows, one french door, front and back composite door. Is that sound ok? I signed the contract but have 7 days cooling off period incase I am not happy. It's a 4 bedroom house. Thanks x

Was it a price on the day only (sign now for 'x' price - valid only today), did they keep dropping the price?
I think you should ask for a price that is valid for 'x' days/weeks etc. and get three quotes from other companies to see who offers the best (price & quality) and decide from there.
This is an old thread but might be worth a read: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/582953Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -
I'd say it should be about half that, but I haven't had anything done for about 3 years.

very difficult to say if thats a good price or not because we dont know the sizes of your windows etc....
However last year we had 8 large windows 1 composite front door and a upvc set of french doors for £6000...
composite doors are more expensive than upvc and generally start at around £1000 each fitted,so based on that 20% of your quote will probably be the doors....probably roughly quoting its then £500 for each of the other items
As with most big purchases...3 quotes will help you to get a general feel if the price is right for what you are asking.frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!
2017 toiletries challenge 179 out 145 in ...£18.64 spend0 -

Are they "A" rated ?
We have just had 9 Windows and doors similar to what you have mentioned + Fascia and guttering for £8500.
Guttering etc was £1700 of above mentioned.
Hope this helps :money::beer:There are more questions than answers :shhh: :silenced:WARNING ! May go silent for unfriendly repliesPlease excuse me Spell it MOST times:A UK Resident :A0 -
why don't you cancel the order ,or at least put it on hold esp if it's from one of the big nationals then it's probably overpriced, get quotes from reputable local companies and see how they compare,0

Thanks for replies. Yes it was £14000 to start with but seen the shock on my face he reduced it to £11000 and then reduced it to £10000 and just he was leaving i said ok. it's 155x130cm 4 windows, 104x102cm 5 windows, 22x130cm 4 windows also take a door out and brick a wall instead. Sorry its 13 windows not 15. Thanks x0

They are local company. A rated windows and doors. I never went to a big company but was going to get a quote from somebody else too but he pushed a lot lol x0

I would cancel the order, then shop around, and if it turns out to have been a good price, go back to them. I'm not sure how you have to cancel, maybe by a recorded delivery letter to be sure.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0

I had A rated windows with ten year guarantee on glazing, profiles, and ironmongery fitted last year. There was laminated glass, egress hinges, easy clean, restrictors, laminated glass etc.
The order was for 22 windows, two pairs of French doors, two glazed doors and a composite door. The price under £6500 to supply, plus an additional £1350 to measure and fit.
I had some additional works included and the final price IIRR was £8000.
This suggests your price is high.0 -
Really  thank you for the advice. He was keep showing prices other companies charge and his pri es seemed cheap compering. will call them on monday and will tell them I found cheaper somewhere else. They supposed to match the price if cheaper somewhere else and either reduce it or cancel it x0
